Brandon Ingram – (Undecided) SF, 6’8’’ 185 lbs

For the West squad, Brandon Ingram stole the show during the first half scoring 13 points in a variety of ways. He scrapped for baskets inside, hit jumpers, and used his length and wiry athleticism to bring in 5 rebounds. Ingram cooled off the second half, and finished the game with 15 points in just 18 minutes, but he really looked good out there amongst the best high school players in the country. He has a smooth handle, a great feel for the game, and was a bit reminiscent of some of the lanky wings that graced the hardwood in the 1970s. Wherever Brandon lands, his team will be getting one of the more improved players in his class.

Carlton Bragg – (Kansas) F, 6’9’’ 220 lbs

Kansas commit, Carlton Bragg, showed just why he’ll fit just fine in Bill Self’s system next year in Lawrence. The inside/outside forward wowed the crowd with a break away windmill dunk, and just a few moments later stretched the defense out and nailed a corner three pointer. Bragg finished the game with 9 points and 2 rebounds, and showed some real potential as a stretch 4, who still has the athletic ability and touch around the hoop to exploit less physically gifted players close to the rim.

Ivan Rabb – (Undecided) PF, 6’11’’ 210 lbs

Reportedly down to Cal and Arizona, Ivan Rabb was extremely productive during his time on the court last night for the West’s squad. Tallying just 15 minutes, but dropping 10 points and hauling in 6 rebounds, Ivan Rabb’s length and gazelle like movements are hard to miss out on the court. He scored the first two points of the game of an alley oop dunk from P.J. Dozier, and despite the fact this was an All-Star game, he stayed clear of wild shots, and simply used his length and athleticism to get points around the hoop.

PJ Dozier – (South Carolina) PG, 6’6’’ 185 lbs

P.J. Dozier helped pace the West squad out into an early lead. Scoring 6 points in the first 5 minutes of the game, he did a good job at controlling the tempo, as well as setting up his teammates. Dozier also showcased some nice potential as a long range shooter as well by going 2-4 from downtown. The future Gamecock finished the game with 14 points and 3 assists.

Stephen Zimmerman – (Undecided) C, 7’0 230 lbs

Las Vegas big man, Stephen Zimmerman only accounted for 6 points and 6 rebounds, but made his presence felt by tallying a couple rim rattling dunks, and the showcasing of some serious end to end speed for a player his size. Perhaps the most offensively fine tuned post man in this year’s McDonald’s game, Zimmerman didn’t really take the chance bust out much of his back to the basket, or high post skillset, but his deceptive athleticism was well noted.

Allonzo Trier – (Arizona) SG, 6’4’’ 190 lbs

Allonzo Trier’s 17 points lead the West team, and the future Arizona Wildcat was not shy about his desire to rack up points. Going 6-18 from the field, and 2-5 from downtown, Trier was aggressive from the beginning, both looking for his own shot, but also hitting the glass, which included a nice tip in during the first half. His long range shot shows a lot of promise, and he gives off that lightning in a bottle vibe, that makes it easy to imagine chipping in buckets right away for Sean Miller’s Arizona team.

Deyonta Davis – (Michigan State) PF, 6’9’’ 210 lbs

With his future team getting ready to kick off Final 4 play in just a few days, Deyonta Davis really showed a lot of promise for the future of Tom Izzo’s program. Davis is extremely long, and moves very well for a guy his size. He hauled in 9 rebounds ( 4 offensive ) in just 15 minutes, and went 3-5 from the field for 6 points. His wingspan is long and noticeable, and despite not being the most polished offensive player, he is going to be a real force on the glass and as a shot blocker very early into his college career.

Malik Newman – (Undecided) SG, 6’3’’ 175 lbs

The countries’ top guard prospect, Malik Newman didn’t exactly light up the McDonald’s All-American game this year, but it’s abundantly clear why he’s regarded so highly. A very physical player, and possessing great ball handling and one on one scoring ability Newman’s 0-7 performance in a high flying All-Star game is nothing to worry about. Although a combo, Newman did finish the game with 5 assists in 20 minutes, which lead his team in that statistical category.

Caleb Swanigan – (Undecided) C, 6’8’’ 275 lbs

Burly big man, Caleb Swanigan started the game for the West, and never really found his rhythm. One of the stronger players in this class, Swanigan’s power and long wingspan will make him an immediate post presence at the NCAA level. He finished with 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and seemed slimmer, and in better condition when compared to times I’ve seen him in the past.

Jalen Brunson – (Villanova) PG, 6’1’’ 180 lbs

Villanova commit, Jalen Brunson’s toughness really caught my eye as did his overall game. He’s really good at controlling the tempo, and seemingly always is aware of where his teammates are around him. His speed, and quickness will certainly serve him well next season, and he finished the game with a well rounded 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. He didn’t capture MVP honors like his father, Rick, in 1991, but Jalen’s future is extremely bright.

Chase Jeter – (Duke) PF, 6’11’’ 215 lbs

Future Blue Devil, Chase Jeter, joined his high school teammate Stephen Zimmerman for one last game, and although Chase didn’t really wow the crowd, he still showcased that length and mobility that make him such a highly regarded prospect. He blocked 2 shots, scored 5 points, and hauled in 1 rebound in just 14 minutes, and his length and timing challenging shots emerged as his highlights of this game.

Malachi Richardson – (Syracuse) 6’6’’ 190 lbs.

Malachi Richarson was another player who couldn’t get his shot going, but again, no need to fret. Richardson’s ability to handle the ball and size for a shooting guard make him such an intriguing prospect going forward. Malachi went 0-5 from downtown, pulled down a rebound, and stole the ball once in 14 minutes of action.

    • Always like this…

Its always like this until the nba combine when they’re actually measured and some dont even attend that so we never really know. I think Jeter  could be 6’11 with shoes (depends on the shoe) and proly 6’9 1/2 without.

  1. Brandon Ingram

From what I understand, Ingram was the best player in the practices (which is the best way to evaluate during the McDonalds week) on either team. He should be interesting to watch if he can play so well with a body that skinny. I’m curious to see his measurements at the Hoop Summitt. Although I also wonder how much muscle he can put on that frame.
