Troy Brown is one of the top guards of the 2017 high school class. Known for being physically gifted for his combo guard position standing at 6’6, giving him great potential for a successful career. NBADraft.net had the opportunity to catch up with Brown at the Nike Global Challenge, here is what the Las Vegas native had to say:

NBADraft.net: How has Chicago been so far?

Troy Brown: It’s been a fun experience coming out here playing against the best competition and just playing around good players and stuff like that so it’s been great just to be here.

NBADraft.net: How is this event different that other events you have been to?

Troy Brown: The competition level is higher, playing against other teams from different countries, you don’t know what to expect so you kind of come out
here and just play your hardest and do what you can do, and do what you know you can do best, so just try to get as many W’s as possible.

NBADraft.net: How does it feel to represent the US?

Troy Brown: It’s a great experience and with me not being able to make the US team because of school, it’s great to represent the West Coast and the USA.

NBADraft.net: To somebody who hasn’t seen you play before, how would you describe your game to them?

Troy Brown: A tall guard, preferably point guard, I can guard the one through three, I play the one through four in cases, so I’m just very versatile.

NBADraft.net: With your roster, your team has a lot of guards. Do you like playing off the ball or do you prefer it to be in your hands?

Troy Brown: I prefer the ball to be in my hands but playing with guards like Trae Young I don’t really have a problem with it. I’m just out here doing what I do and playing the two spot out here.

NBADraft.net: Is there anyone you base your game off of?

Troy Brown: I would say like a Magic Johnson or a Penny Hardaway type of player.

NBADraft.net: What’s the main thing you want to work on going into next season?

Troy Brown: I would say getting stronger and my left hand.

NBADraft.net: Who is your biggest influence in your basketball career?

Troy Brown: It would be my mom and my dad.

NBADraft.net: Who has been the most difficult opponent you have faced throughout high school?

Troy Brown: I would say De'Aaron Fox.

NBADraft.net: At what age did you realize basketball was something you really wanted to pursue?

Troy Brown: About like the age of four.

NBADraft.net: How is your recruiting coming along?

Troy Brown: Everything is going good. I’m hearing from a lot of college coaches, so it’s going pretty well.

NBADraft.net: What other events are you attending before next season starts?

Troy Brown: I’m not really sure as of now.

NBADraft.net: What else do you want to accomplish for your next two years of high school?

Troy Brown: I want to win Gatorade Player of the Year and also want to win a state championship. Then I want to accomplish being on the 17U USA team.

NBADraft.net: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Troy Brown: Probably in the NBA, that’s what I hope, that’s my dream. If not, probably being a physical therapist for the NBA or something, just staying in the game of basketball.
