James Wiseman earned MVP of the West in the Underclassman All-American Game scoring 21 points and ten rebounds. Standing at 7’1 with a 7’4.5 wingspan and flashing improved offensive skills, he’s established himself as one of the elite talents in the 2019 high school class and on the NBA horizon. We got a chance to catch up with him following his standout performance.

NBADraft.net: What was your impression of the event and how would you compare it to other events you’ve been a part of?

James Wiseman: It was a great experience against all the top players in the country.

NBADraft.net: Did you feel like you had anything to prove?

James Wiseman:
Yes sir. I got better with my face up and just handle the ball a little bit more.

NBADraft.net: What separates you from your peers playing in this game?

James Wiseman: Since I’ve got instant mobility, I run the floor really well.

NBADraft.net: How would you best describe your game?

James Wiseman: I’m very fluid. I can shoot from 10-15 feet out. I run the floor really well. I’m tall, I’ve got a lot of length.

NBADraft.net: Is there anyone you base your game off of?

James Wiseman: Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant.

NBADraft.net: What are the main things you would like to add to your game or work on as you progress through high school?

James Wiseman: Just really ball handling and just on my post moves.

NBADraft.net: What are some goals you want to accomplish throughout your high school career?

James Wiseman: I want to be a McDonald’s All American and I want to go to the Jordan Brand Classic.

NBADraft.net: Who would you say is the best player you’ve ever played against?

James Wiseman: Nobody.

NBADraft.net: Have you had any setbacks with injuries or anything else?

James Wiseman: No sir.

NBADraft.net: How’s recruiting coming along?

James Wiseman:
Good.

NBADraft.net: Do you have any other events planned for this summer?

James Wiseman: I go to USA in June and that’s really all.

NBADraft.net: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

James Wiseman: Four man in the NBA.
