r377ParticipantI really liked him coming out of college….
report ————
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Grizzlies and Josh Jackson have agreed for him not to join the team in training camp, and start the season in the G League.
Since being selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft, Jackson has failed to live up to expectations on the court and run into issues off the floor as well. Per Shams, Jackson won’t report to training camp and will begin training for the next few weeks to play in G League with Memphis Hustle. It now seems highly unlikely the Grizzlies exercise Jackson’s $8.9 million option for 2020-21. He can be ignored in all fantasy formats.

BKGingerSnapParticipantI don’t want to make execuses for Josh Jackson because clearly he’s been very immature but it seems to me he’s had bad advice (His agent BJ Armstrong wouldn’t let him work out with Celtics because he thought Suns was a better situation for development which was and still is insane) and that bad advice put him in the worst situation in the NBA. I think he may need to have a Gerald Green type career where gets his act together overseas and comes back to the NBA once he’s got his act together. He’s had moments where’s he’s looked pretty decent but he needs real coaching and development and a change of scenery is very much needed. His free throw and 3 point shooting is poor and he needs to take some responsiblity but he’s only 22. I think overseas with more practice and tough love coaching would be better for him than the g-league.

Tight ButtholeParticipantMaybe this is the homer in me, but a good opportunity might be in Cleveland playing under Coach Beilein. He was able to really coach up his players and made a nice handful into draft picks. Maybe all that additional coaching and development Jackson needs could be in Cleveland after/if Memphis doesnt pick his option up next year. And if he cant carve out a role in Memphis and Cleveland, maybe that’ll be the reality check he needs.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI was saying this guy was going to be a bust early in his freshman season. A knucklehead that cant shoot. I called it.

OhCanada-ParticipantI was a big fan of Josh Jackson once his shot started falling at Kansas. Really thought he had all the tools to be great. Still think so but he just keeps making bad decisions and cant get the mental side of things down. He’s still young though.

BeastMode716Participantfigured Jackson could help a Contender like Phila or Boston immediately b/c he projected as an elite perimeter defender & athlete who at 6’8” & long would be a nightmare in transition
I agree w/ the post above that screwing over Danny Aigne (at his agents behest) by no showing for a work out in Sacramento after AIgne flew all the way across country just to see Jackson work out b/c his agent wanted him in Phoenix where he’d get more playing time is a shame b/c it shows how poor advice can screw a kid up
Aigne laughed it off & Joked how he was stuck in Sacramento where there is nothing to do for a whole day but it just was a terrible look for an in coming Rookie
I hope Jackson can find his way b/c he had the pedigree to at least be a long term NBA player – I remember watching Jackson eat up Tatum in a high school game b/c his athleticism just shocked the very technically skilled & smooth shooting Tatum (who obviously has since developed & adjusted)
Crazy how that 2017 Draft has produced some really good young players but the Most touted: Fultz, Ball & Jackson have so far really struggled to varying degrees – hopefully they all flourish as they mature & grow
