1.2mil this is an easy decision. You don’t make it to the NBA you get a job paying if your lucky 35thou to 45 thou a year. You would never see a mil with that in your lifetime probably, or you can just become a millionaire and take your chance from there. Be careful how you spend though.

I would take the 1.2 million. But yet again who knows what would’ve happened if Brandon Jennings did go to college. We’d all probably be talking about him as the #1 pick in this year’s draft.

I’m not too high on Jennings because I only got to see him play once in a full game. If he went to college blackflash is right, he probably would have been considered a top 3 pick and he would have made a lot more money with a bigger contract. If he falls to 7, like I think he will, he will have lost about 10 million on his rookie contract.

When your from a place like that you get out anyway you can. Whats 10 mil to getting nothing if he blew out his knee. He is going to be rich either way. Why stay in the hood or leave your moms there an extra year. You put your family at risk. He made a smart move.

you have to calculate it..the money he made there was all tax free..now look at the rookie scale for each pick then take the tax out and see how much he lost…if he would have been a top 3 pick which he still probabl wouldnt have..possible 4 or lower because of blake rubio and thabeet

If i had the opportunity to have a choice between going to college or getting 1.2 mil would be hard. Like Jennings I am with a single parent and times do get hard. Bolting to Europe for 1.2 million sounds really great but there are things to consider

1) Its hard adjusting to a new place expecially if its a country where theres a language barrier and stuff like that

2) Leaving strait out of high school to play profesionally is tough

Then theres the college option. In college is when you mature and plus your around people your age going through the samethings as you. Also going in to college basketball as the top prospect your better then most players already. You get more recognition and you cant beat going into the ncaa tournament. To sum it all up alhough the money sounds great, college is where I would go but its whats best for the individual.

I would go to college..he has hurt his stock by playing overseas really. College gives you life skills and playing overseas really takes a hit on your statistics and development. Look at Jennings, Childress, and Pargo. None of them are putting up the numbers or playing consistent minutes that players in the league are taking for granted. All of these players going overseas have made it clear to me…STAY IN AMERICA! Its a different animal out there

He makes money, helps his family, still very high, plays against other professionals and didn’t get babied just because he is a Star. I liked his decision and it should have made him mature alot more and understand the game better.

He played against grown men already, and held his own. He dealt with the language barrier and culture shock. He is still projected top ten, which means he’s getting paid either way. That experience proves he is a tough kid for sure.

We cant tell until we see how successful he is in the league. If he is successful then it shows that the European experience is just as helpful as college while getting paid.

I would go to college and work toward progressing my game (also working toward a degree). However, if I was a DUMBA$$ like Jennings and only score a 800 on my SAT, then I would go to Europe too.

If I was strapped for cash, then I would take the money in europe. If my family was cool, then I would go to college because it is an easier transition and would be a more fun experience.

On a side note, how stupid does a McDonalds all-american caliber basketball player need to be to not get excepted to Arizona? He must have just started drooling all over himself when they asked him his name.

You can always go to college. I know people speak of the college experience but the college experience is nothing to the Millionaire experience. Last time I check with a million dollars you can do more than pay for college. He got a definite Million from playing while other risked injury in college. He also played against better team than in college and had to learn to be a mature adult in a difficult situation. This will not only have made him a better player but also a better man. I believe all this things outweigh going to college just to play ball for one or two years with lesser talent and no money.

I would go to college that 1.2 could be the biggest check you ever get in the NBA. so go to College improve your skills and make 15.2 a year then your a superstar. SO EVERYONE OUT THEIR GO TO COLLEGE FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS I KNOW IT WOULD NOT BE EASY BUT IT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TEN ALL STAR GAMES AND PROBABLY NONE. SO GO TO COLLEGE!!!!!!!!

I would go to college and then get the money. College teaches you things on and off the court that most people need to become successful businesmen. Thats baiscaly what some of these players are. I think wait, dominate at Arizona, then go to the NBA.

Take the money. Jennings contract is going to be damn good going in the top ten. Not saying college is bad, I went. I still would have taken the money if I could go back. A degree won’t protect your knee. He was not going before Blake even if he had a good year.
