17 – LakersDerrick Lively. They literally had no Center against Jokic. Bamba was injured to provide a big body and Davis got dominated which ended up neutralizing him on both ends. Glaring weakness. Lively has impressed in workouts and even shown some shooting potential.

NorrinRaddParticipantAwww yes, my beloved Lakers… Hope they trade back to Indy or Charlotte for more picks… in this exercise though I think they could go a few ways here. Clowney and Lively would both be good choices here imo. I’m going a different route than a big though at least for this pick. I’m going Kobe Bufkin. He’s a solid player on both ends of the court and can play good on and off the ball. D’Angelo Russell I don’t think is coming back.

HitsterParticipantThe Lakers are win now given LBJ’s timeline and with literally no-one on the roster after next season. The need for a big was clear but if Bamba is fit does he fill that need next season. Lively here I agree makes sense and if his job is to rebound and defend then his shooting and scoring is less of a worry. You cannot teach size and if he knows how to use it and has good basics then he can do the required job from day one and will have LBJ, AD etc to guide him.
There is likely a need in backcourt too and I’m discounting the longer term upside guys as the Lakers need minutes from day one. Kobe Bufkin would be a good call too, not sure whether his name would be good or bad as a Laker but he could do a job.
I did consider Kris Murray as he’d help reduce workload on LBJ and AD but he doesn’t fill one of the bigger roster needs.
In the end I’ve gone for Jordan Hawkins, he has won an NCAA title so has that winning mentality that a team like the Lakers want and he can fill backcourt minutes from day one.

sweaterflexParticipantBufkin fiits their needs, I do think this pick gets traded, possibly in a DLo/Kyrie sign and trade. I think they’d also take a long look at Kris Murray if they didn’t like the price on resigning Rui. They probably handle backup center with a veteran minimum guy.
