bt102ParticipantTo me it’s between Patrick Williams and Aleksej Pokusevski. I don’t think teams are going to have the guts to take Aleksej this early including the Spurs especially when teams reportedly see a lot of upside in Williams so Williams is my pick.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIt sure is strange to see the spurs drafting in the lottery. I like them to take Williams here if available. He’s the type of athlete they have had success developing in the past.

sniperParticipantPatrick Williams makes some sense for the Spurs because they need to improve on defense, but I don’t really see him doing anything but playing in Austin and sitting behind Lonnie Walker, Keldon Johnson & Samanic for the next 2 years.Spurs already have a lot of young guys on the wings.
I’m going to go in a different direction and take Vernon Carey for the Spurs. I know he’s kind of a “dinosaur” big man because he can’t switch on D and doesn’t look to shoot 3s. But the Spurs don’t really care about those trends, and they desperately need help up front. With Aldridge going into almost certainly his final season as a Spur, the only other big men under contract are Trey Lyles and Jakob Poeltl (who’s a restricted free agent). Carey’s a guy who can come in and help sooner rather than later. He probably won’t be a star, but I think there’s not much chance he’s a bust.

OhCanada-ParticipantLove the pick. I’m gonna back you on this one. I think Spurs go bg man at 11. Vernon Carey.

bt102ParticipantYou 2 are going to be so surprised when he goes in the 40’s…..I think the Spurs take him at 41, but a high usage big man, unless your Embiid or Jokic, don’t get minutes. This site overrates a lot of players and this guy is one of them. Go look at any other site and he will be in the mid second round.

bt102ParticipantCorrection: High usage big men that tend to suck on defense don’t get a ton of minutes because they don’t contribute to winning. He reminds me a lot of Jahlil Okafor.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf I didn’t go big I would go Saddiq Bey. I think hes more versatile then Williams and San Antonio already has Samanic as their PF of the future.

dmo21ParticipantI think they have to swing for the fences with this pick. And in doing that, I’d say Patrick Williams. Has that size, athleticism, potential combination. Plus, the Spurs don’t have much going on (future wise) at the forward positions.
