 Mocks have a handful of useful players available to Golden State at the end of the first round. Of these three, who do you think is the best fit for the Warriors to draft…Ty Jerome from Virginia, Carsen Edwards from Purdue, or Mfiondu Kabengele from FSU?

I love all three…Jerome as the heir apparent to Shaun Livingston as the leader of the 2nd unit; Edwards as the Vinnie Johnson style gunner that can keep an opponent on its heels when Steph and Klay need rest; and Kabengele to either replace Looney long term or play alongside Draymond as another defensive nightmare in switches.

kabengele just seems like a guy that won’t fall past the spurs.  edwards may fall but with how NBA is so perimeter heavy, i have him gone by GS’s pick as well.

here’s guys i had in close range on my mock.  mock also assumes durant peaces out….

cam johnson – current pick in my mock.  experienced SF with length and nice jumpshot.

jerome – exact same reason as you…livingston clone with consistent jumper and combo guard skills.

thybulie – a guy that can start right away and be another perimeter stopper.  gren, klay and curry get more shots with this guy aboard.

horton-tucker – underrated ball handler and passer that has a poor man/mini-draymond green vibe.  can guard 4 positions.

windler – another 3-point threat/scorer with size

gafford – low post guy that can help spread the floor.  also runs well for transition play.

that any of those last four guys have an NBA level skill. So it’ll be interesting.

They have a combo forward Damion Lee who they seem to be invested in (he married stephs sister).

They may want to look at replacing Kevon Looney. His contract is up and although they still have Bell and Looney to replace him Looney clearly has outplayed both of them and should earn a decent contract. Could be a candidate for MIP if he lands on the right team next year. Cousins is also likely gone so a high level longterm C would be ideal.

Hes shooting 70% in the playoffs with 7 points and 4 rebounds as a defensive specialist.

Another option would be a combo gaurd to compliment their core of Curry and Klay.

 Thybulle as a potential Iggy replacement down the road.  And, if Durant leaves they are really gonna need some help on the wing.  Defensive playmaking is big. I think Thybulle hits enough 3’s to be a deluxe 3 and D guy.

A sleeper pick I like is Kris Wilkes.  Good size, and a 6’11 wing span.  He can score and shoot.  Good athlete.  I think Wilkes is the guy everyone thinks Cam Reddish is.  Either way, he is a Moneyball Cam Reddish.

Two more sleepers (a couple of bigs):  If Durant stays then they mostly need to shore up their front line.  Moses Brown offers a Javale McGee package in terms of length, dunking, and shot blocking  but maybe not in terms of explosiveness. Can’t hit foul shots but he is an awesome rebounder.  Moses Brown could be a load inside.  sleeper bigs: Mamadi Diakite.  All he does is win.  Not a huge guy but he is 6’9 and wiry.  Hit a miracle shot (although about a 10 footer) in the tourney he can play well inside, dunk, and rebound.  Will probably be a Bo Outlaw type in the right system. With some luck he could show flashes of Dennis Rodman.  With a TON of luck (and awesome coaching) he could give you shades of Hakeem Olajuwon. 

And, Tacko Fall. Mainly a third stringer he can do what he does — dunk, rebound, and protect the rim.  The Warriors don’t need much and if KD returns they can just run it back next year.  A 7’6 fly swatter as big man depth would be icing on the cake.

I like the Wilkes pick. I think he’s pretty good at everything. I think the shot is okay now, but will be good later. He does a little of everything well. He could use a couple pounds, but GS is a good team for him: they value skill. I also like Ty Jerome here. I like how he keeps people on his hip. Guys who know how to use their body, and not just dazzling moves to get around others, are almost always successful. I only worry about defense.

 Trade all their draft picks for the next 3 years for draft picks from a horrible team. They should have did this the moment they signed KD. Besides Looney who just came on, they haven’t drafted anyone relevent since 2012. And it’s not like they predicted Steph and Draymond would be what they are. They honestly just got lucky, and should trade up and invest in their future because their are few college player who can earn minutes on that team where they draft.

 Nic Claxton is a guy I think they should target/consider in the late first. Sleeper prospect but has all the tools and versatility to contribute. He really excelled in the Texas game, showing the ability to move his feet and stay with guards on the switch. Some may point to Georgia’s lack of success, but his on/off numbers are very impressive and he is just scratching the surface of his potential… He’s a guy who needs to find the right team fit, but if he does could make some serious improvements and surprise people (a rise potentially similar to Siakam)

 I’d think they might well take any of the bigs if they fall to 28 given that Bogut has come back short term and DMC could move on/ be out injured next season. 

All the names mentioned above make sense so the only one I could realistically add to this without coming up with trade up scenarios could be Jalen McDaniels who as a tall skinny PF could give them a few options on perimeter defence etc.
