canadabasketballisrisingParticipantcurrent NBA rules, which team advances in a 7 game series. All players are in their prime year of their careers.
3 NorrinRadd
Perimeter: Steph Curry, John Stockton, Kyrie Irving, Gail Goodrich Combo: Dwyane Wade, Sam Jones Wings: Kawhi Leonard, George Gervin Stretch: Larry Bird (Jokic) Bigs: Nikola Jokic, Moses Malone, Alonzo Mourning Coach: Red AuerbachFor one, my coach is superior and that should matter. My lineups are really fluid and I picked Larry Bird ultimately because not only was he the GOAT until his back said NO, He’s the most irreplaceable player in this draft. My wings are at least as good if not better with Kawhi and Gervin. As much as I like Jerry West, when the logo was at his prime he was losing more than winning… I have Steph, try shutting down the 3 ball with Bird and Steph starting and the Joker… The object of the game is to get more points than the other team, and while I do love Sniper’s team, it’s not quite mine… Of course everyone is right in their own mind though, but imo my team doesn’t have a terrible weakness. I don’t think Sniper’s team has an answer for prime Kawhi either… hope doing this an hour later than him doesn’t burn me up too much… This is why the 3>6 matchup.
vs
6 Sniper
Starters: Jerry West, Reggie Miller, Sidney Moncrief, Tim Duncan, Bill Russell 2nd unit: Chauncey Billups, John Havlicek, Rick Barry, Draymond Green, Pau Gasol Deep bench: Chet Walker, Robert Parish Coach: Larry BrownExplanation: When I took Duncan as best player available in the 1st round and then Russell as BPA in the 2nd, I knew my best bet was to try and build a defensive monster team. With two of Duncan, Russell or Green on the floor most of the time, and at least one of Moncrief or Billups to slow down the other team’s top perimeter threat, I’ve got a team that’s really hard to score against.
Offensively, I modeled my team after the first couple Spurs championship squads, that had both Duncan and Robinson. The offense runs through Duncan in the high or low post. All the bigs are great passers so we can run lots of high-low actions. The perimeter guys are a collection of great cutters and off-ball movement guys, with a few deadly shooters thrown in (West, Miller & Barry in particular). We don’t have the star power of most teams but I think no one would look forward to playing us.4+ -

ZouldiersParticipantThis is tough one but leaning towards NorrinRadd’s team here. They have so much firepower from their starters to their bench and will overwhelm Sniper’s team due to their scoring and shooting. Sniper’s team defensively will be a tough team to beat but a team with Prime Kawhi, Prime Bird, Prime Wade and Prime Curry would be too much then adding Gervin to that mix and Kyrie, sheesh they won’t ran out of scoring options. Sniper’s team don’t have enough scoring to beat NorrinRadd’s team.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThis is an interesting contrast of styles. Norrinrads team seems built to score and for the pace and space era, while snipers team seems built more for old school, grind it out half court basketball. If this game were played in the late 90s, I might be more apt to pick snipers team, but under current rules I have to go with norrinrad. There is just too much offensive firepower for snipers team to keep up.

HitsterParticipantNorrinRadd has the better scorers and ball handlers but Sniper has the dominant frontcourt defence and better defence throughout the team. But NorrinRadd probably has more elite scoring depth and the better coach so in a best of 7 series, I’d say they figure out a way to win but it would be 4-2 or even 4-3 as it is close.

dmo21ParticipantI think NorrinRadd has this one with his offensive team. Sniper has defense and size, but NorrinRadd can match the size and out run and gun them.
Also, we should do some consolation matchups with teams who lose in the first round. It’s fun doing this and sometimes your team just has a bad matchup..

sniperParticipantGood job NorrinRadd, your team would put on a passing and shooting clinic against anyone!

NorrinRaddParticipantThanks! I’m lucky to get past you though… I had you in my top 3 teams not counting my bias self.
