BlueWaffleIronParticipantSo I was pondering some potential trades the Warriors could pull off for some win now assets next year. They have D-lo and potentially a top 5 pick. Say worst comes to worst that pick shakes out to be number 5, who do you think they could flip for that while throwing in maybe eric paschall as another young asset as well as picks. Judging by previous trades I think maybe they can flip all that for Bradley Beal but I’m not sure its enough for KAT for example with the Wolves wanting to pair him with Russell. I was pouring over rosters and I couldn’t find a lot of all options of high level all stars on bad teams which are usually candidates for those types of trades. Most of the leagues best players seem to be paired with another star and on pretty good or emerging teams that probably wouldn’t flip them right now. I think Beal could fit well with Klay sliding to the 3 though. Thoughts? Did I maybe overlook some players

r377ParticipantNot sure how they do it with the salaries.
Klay and steph get $40mill each
russell $30 and green $25 mill.Personally I think they are done. Klay’s is coming back after a serious injury. Pple are now starting to wake up to the fact dray green is not that great.
they will prob need someone on a rookie contract to make the dollars work or end up with vet ring chaser for cheap

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantIf the Warriors get a top 2 pick, they are goign to flip that pick with Russell, and some fillers for KAT and maybe even covington.
If their pick is top 10 they can still do so for Drummond.
KAT or Drummond/ Green/ Klay/ Curry is an elite top 4 anywhere if the splash bros are even 80% of themselves.0

r377ParticipantCleveland would likely trade love or thompson,, knicks with marc morris or portis could be some names.
Jakob Poeltl, Dieng or Dedmon

The GoatParticipantI agree with r377 that salaries are the problem. They may need to keep the top 5 pick and play him. I think initially they roll with Curry, D-Lo, Klay, Dray and the pick, but if it doesn’t work one of these big money deals needs to go.
Draymond, even though he’s central to what they do, would have to be the guy shopped. His contract wouldn’t be easy to move though. .
If they can’t move Draymond, they may consider flipping D-Lo. They need a younger group of guys on cheaper deals though. I’d take what appears to be 70c on the dollar and trade for a package of guys that some teams may have given up on early, some still yet to reach their peak. Someone like Jonathan Isaac may be a good fit.
The Spurs for example are overloaded with quality young guards (White, Murray, Walker, Forbes).
I think they need a big man tbh, go back to a similar unit for their first title where they started Bogut then slid Green over for the death lineup. I think they’d be looking to draft Wiseman if they can or trade that pick for a legit 5.1+ -

Nvrsettl35ParticipantWhat the Dubs should do but won’t do is trade Steph Curry for KAT. Lineup DLO, Klay, Dray, KAT, Draft Pick or any of the guys on the roster currently. Strength in numbers would be back and team would get younger…to add to it offer something to PHX for Devin Booker, based on not so inside information DLO, KAT, DBooker all wish to play together at some point in their careers.
They once traded the beloved Monta Ellis for a brighter future…might be time to go that route again with Steph at 31 at a position that his size and injury history don’t project well.
They can always give steph his statue at a later date.

HitsterParticipantI can never see the Warriors moving Steph. With his shooting he will always be a major threat for years to come and having sat out a big chunk of this season could come back on fire next year.
With their salary level could they find a taker for Russell and if they missed out on a very top pick what would Russell and 4th or 5th pick garner?
Also might they try to find a taker for Russell in return for another top 10 pick and thus get a couple of young pieces. Draft an NBA ready guy and a project.
Plus movin g Russell would free up cap space to add depth to the bench.0 -

r377ParticipantIf Pacers are set on Sabonis, do they move turner ? He has fallen out of favour a bit. They could do draymond green for Turner

The GoatParticipantSuperstars don’t get moved unless there is an issue. D-Lo and a top 5 pick would get you an all star or disgruntled superstar. Maybe that’s KAT by then. Maybe it’s Simmons or Lillard – imagine that, Lillard back home with Curry and Klay bombing away. Either way, the Warriors project to have 1-2 years of contention at minimum left in them.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThe idea of them moving Russell and the pick for Beal is definitely intriguing and sounds realistic. They won’t be able to do it until this summer, which is fine because I’m sure they are not in a rush to make any major moves right now. I can’t really see Beal wanting to continue wasting his prime in Washington when they are clearly in a rebuilding phase. A starting unit of curry, beal, Thompson, green, looney sounds pretty tough to beat provided they are all healthy and would put them right back in the championship conversation. They’d be capped out and it might be difficult to fill out the rest of the roster but I’m sure they could find some veteran ring chasers who would take a discount to play with that team.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantIf they trade a top pick and Russell its for a big or a wing, unless a deal falls in their lap. KAT seems so obvious to me right now if they get a top 2 or 3 pick. Best deal the wolves will get with a franchise pg and potential franchise sg or c for one player. You never get equal value back trading a player with KAT’s upside.
The second KAT says he won’t stay in Minny, and the second the warriors get a top 3 pick, is the time that the Warriors, like the lakers last year hold all the cards.
KAT, Green, Covington, Thompson, and Curry is arguably the top 5. Lots of freeagents will look to sogn for cheap to bosltyer the bench. All it should take for Covington is Looney, Poole or Evans, and maybe Pachall. Players like Burkes Igoudala (coming back), Lee is the start of a nice bench.0 -

OhCanada-ParticipantWhats wrong with them just keeping the pick, drafting a player that can contribute right away and potentially develop into a franchise player. Theres no one available on the open market that is worth trading for. Beal clearly isnt going anywhere, I’d rather have D-Lo and the pick than have Towns the guy as premadonna as NBA players get and he doesnt know how to close. Too many bad habits. Also you shouldnt be trading away a star player that you just signed…especially when he is having a career year statistically. Makes your organization look like crap, bunch of liars.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantHow is trading DLO this summer “just signed” lol? KAT is the perfect pick in gstate.
KAT, Green, Covington, Thompson, Curry. Damn!0

HitsterParticipantThere has been talk on ESPN suggesting Russell to T-Wolves for package including the T-Wolves pick this year. If GSW could get this deal done they would get under luxury tax and potentially have two very high picks.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantI only see that happening if the wolves get a top 2 pick. Otherwise Russell is worth more than that. If was a 3-5th pick they would have to include covington.

HitsterParticipantRussell’s trade value is interesting. He was bombed out of LA to get Misgov’s contract off the books. The Nets let him walk to get Kyrie and this year all his star team mates have been injured. He has put up good numbers for GSW but his efforts have been in vain, so he has yet to be on a really contending team to see just how effective he could be.
