So college basketball as we know it is going to change dramatically. From what I understand the next CBA the NBA will abolish the one and done rule and promote two different avenues for prospects. G-League Ignite and the Overtime League (OTL). OTL will offer contracts to young players starting from 100k and provide insurance and scholarships to anyone that does not make it in the NBA.

Theres also a chance Victor Wembanyama joins one of these routes as soon as next year as he recently left his team in France. Could you imagine how much that would shake up the international scene. Imagine if half of this years top international prospects had been playing in the G League since they were 17. Josh Giddey, Alperen Sengun, Franz Wagner, Kai Jones, Usman Garuba, Chris Duarte, Bassey, Thor, Petrusev, Begarin, Prcakin, Bleijenbergh etc. etc. Along with the endless North American prospects thats a damn entertaining league and it seems to be what they are pushing for. Small leagues of elite prospects.

It should be interesting to see how this all plays out. I think it could be alot more difficult to identify elite talent, you could get a situation where someone who wouldve been showcased playing at a small school like Ja Morant instead never gets a chance to play.

Victor Wembanyama signed with Tony Parker’s ASVEL, so he will be getting some Euroleague action and plenty of time to bond with bond with Kostas Antetokounmpo. It is probably for the best. The G-League Ignite is fine for guys who don’t want to go to college, but probably shouldn’t be heading abroad at their age. This probably hold the other way around.

Oh wow I didn’t know that. Thats huge. Kostas looked pretty good in the Olympic qualifiers in limited minutes. You think they play on the court at the same time?

My guess is that the plan for Wembanyama would be to get him in a role to play 13-17 minutes per, probably closer to 17 in LNB and 13 in the Euroleague this year, and then ramp him up to a full starter load in 2022-23. I am not sold on Kostas, and am a little surprised a team in the Euroleague picked him up. Given how close the family seems to be, I would have figured he would have gone to UCAM Murcia with their youngest brother Alex.
