This one is tougher than Wiseman and Okongwu. But ultimately I am going Devin Vassell. Vassell has the floor of a rotation player given that he is literally a 3-D guy whereas in the NBA you have 3-D guy that can’t really shoot 3’s or can’t really play a ton of defense. I also think Vassell can get better given he is skinnier. If he gains some more muscule he might be able to attack the paint more. He to me reminds me of Khris Middleton. I really don’t think Okoro is all that and I’m worried about Avidja’s shooting translating. I think Okoro and Avdija will be solid players but I think Vassell will be better.

Avidija has the most upside to me and would be my pick.

Okoro seems like the biggest wild card. He does most things well. I think he’s a better shooter than his numbers suggested. He’s more of a cog in the machine kind of guy and not thee guy. But I wonder if he’ll be the guy I underestimate most in the draft.

I’ve got Vassell above him by one spot. I agree, he’s the best 3 and D guy in the draft, but how high a pick is a 3 and D guy? Lottery? Okay. Top 5? No. Vassell can’t dribble and he can’t drive.

Avidija is my favorite. I’ve got him ranked too high. 4th/5th. Plays really hard. Makes it happen. Good handles. Nice looking shot. Good footwork. Can post up, shoot outside, do all things. Great passer.

More than anything, when you pick top 5, you’re probably looking for the go-to guy. You’re probably have to swing for the fences. He’s obviously a risk, but could be a big payoff.

I think of a team like Charlotte taking him if Edwards and Wiseman go 1st. Ball is an obvious thought, but who’s he going to pass it to? I think they should look for someone who could be THE guy. And maybe they’d look at Toppin. Regardless, they’ve a couple point guards. I go with Avidija. However, if that is the right move, Zi don’t expect Charlotte to do it.
