Interesting prospect. I’ve seen him projected as from lottery to second round, and there seems to be varying thoughts on him.
Excellent size for the point guard position. Great instincts as a playmaker. Doesn’t turn the ball over and rarely forces the action. Has the quickness and length to defend multiple positions although he needs to get stronger. Rebounds the ball exceptionally well for his position.
The concerns with haliburton are that he lacks an elite first step to beat defenders off the dribble. He also isn’t particularly explosive finishing around the basket. Even though his percentages are good from the field and 3, he has a slow, funky release on his shot (kind of like a 2-handed push shot). Will probably need to be revamped to be effective at the next level.
If I had to make a comparison for haliburton in terms of size and skill set I’d probably go with Lonzo ball. So what are your thoughts on him and where do you see him getting drafted?
