He should go in the 1st round, but I think he is closer to the late first than he is the lottery.

i think nico mannion is being underrated right now..he came into the season with so much hype surrounding him,…which lead to high expectations….unlike most players in this draft..he has experience playing with and against pros…he was a member of the Italian national team which participated in the fiba world cup…..
his dad pace spent several years in the nba during the 80s… so nico grew up around the game……..
.mannion’s game was stymied in miller’s motion offense..he was the primary ball handler on the team….and miller rarely called plays for his star players….at times he failed to take advantage of their skills……and mannion was hurt the most…Arizona’s lack of outside shooting forced opposing defenses to filled the lanes..forcing him into bad shots……..he’s the 2nd best passer behind only lamelo ball..
has a high iq, he can play off the ball, has great vision,a great 1st step and a good not great athlete…in this draft i think he’s a lottery pick.maybe the suns or spurs at 10 & 11… i think he’ll be a good fit in Orlando……but he must add strength to handle the rigors of the nba…..

He reminds me of Landry Shamet that’s why I say late 1st round.

I see some similarities to shamet…..both guys have great feel for the game, combo guards, good shooters,…shamet has outplayed some guys drafted ahead of him…..
but i think mannion has more upside than shamet….he’s 4 years younger,i believe shamet has reached his peak ……like i said earlier he was held back in miller’s offense…,i think he’ll be a much better pro than college player….but we’ll see…..

LMFAO he is nothing at all like Shamet, both good shooters? lolzzzzzzzzz Shamet shot over 40% from three twice in his career in college, Mannion shot 32% from three, his overall FG% was 39% – how does that make Mannion a good shooter? Plus Shamet in the NBA plays mostly off the ball, sure he is a decent enough to put the ball on the floor and a solid passer but he’s purely a SG, Mannion is a PG.

3 point shooting was mannion’s strengths in highschool. He shot 36% from 3,his fg % was 50 and 60% on 2 pointers. And shot almost 80% at the charity stripe this year at Arizona. But he struggled with his shooting at Arizona. Alot played into it,him trying to play hero ball and forcing up bad shots,Zona not having that veteran leadership like in past years, and the entire team struggling behind the arc.

I think of Mannion as a version of TJ McConnell but with a better jumper. I think there is no chance he goes in the lottery especially with all the guards projected to be in the area. If it was more of a big man or wing draft then MAYBE. I think Orlando or Boston could be realistic for him. I could also see him go lower. I think he goes in the first round for sure, I think at least one team would like to take a chance and develop him, especially a team that needs a good backup PG like the Magic, Celtics, Jazz, Sixers, Lakers, Raptors.

The Suns should consider their hometown boy at #10 (or wherever they pick as long as it’s not top three). Rubio has two years left, during which Mannion could be his backup — a nice setup for him.
