 While everyone is focusing on Mario Hezonja and Kristaps Porzingis due to the upcoming NBA Draft, I would like to remind you one player: Tomas Satoransky.

Last season he played along with Kristaps Porzingis in Sevilla and he was outstanding. Thanks to that fact, FC Barcelona (one of the top Europe teams) signed him and has played him throught this season. At the beginning of the season he was adapting to the city and the team (strict coaching style with few opportunities for young prospects, ask Mario Hezonja). But, as the season continued, he has turned into one of the cornerstones of the team. To the point that last months he has gained the coach confidence, setting aside world class point guard Marcelinho Huertas.

Tomas, a 6’7 POINT GUARD with freaking athletic conditions and explosiveness combined with nice court vision and passing skills and an OK shot, was selected 32nd overall pick on 2012 NBA Draft (I don’t know why so low after crushing in Sevilla as a 20 year old player and being way more decisive than Kristaps has been).

You must bear in mind that jumping from a team like Sevilla to FC Barcelona in Spain is comparable to changing from a team like the Sacramento Kings to the San Antonio Spurs (not exaggerating) in the US.

 This just shows how many hidden gems there are out there and how politics play a roll in the hype of players. This guy is a stud. Big guard that is athletic and plays on Barcelona one of the top teams in Europe. I can definetely see him playing in the NBA some day, reminds me of a bigger and more athletic Calderon, i dont know if he as good of a shooter, but that is something that can be developed.

It is too bad, though, since the Wizards really could use an upgrade to the backup PG position.

 I really like both Porzingis and Hezonja as prospects with tons of potential, but I do think that media and mocks harm the options of success of a lot of players by closing the top draft picks to a very limited number of players.

I have seen Hezonja and Satoransky play many times (also when Sato was Hezonja’s age) and I can tell you that if Mario is seen as a top 10 lock, Tomas should have been at the time as well. But please, don’t get me wrong, I love Hezonja’s potential, he can be a beast.

By the way, you have to add defense to Tomas strenghts ;-P

 He has just notched 14 points (on 3/3 2PT 2/2 3PT and 2/2 FT), 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 22 minutes, including a pair of good dunks, in the first game of the ACB semifinals against Unicaja Málaga.

Not sure if or when the guy is coming over. Wizards drafted him but they stashed him and let him develop more. After what happened with Jan Vesely it’s going to take more than a few nice highlights to convince me he’s ready for the NBA. Everything i’ve read and seen says he fits what the Wizards need. A guy that can come off the bench, play 1 or 2, keep the pace while Wall is resting, improved shooter, can get to the rim, very explosive but i still have doubts . Have to wait and see.

He has refused the past 2 years to join the Wizards summer league team because he played 3 summer league games when he was drafted and feels he doesn’t have anything to prove. From what I’ve heard he is comfortable in Spain and won’t come to the NBA unless to be a starter. It’s almost identical to the Wizards situation with Juan Carlos Navarro. Best thing the wizards can do is parlay him into a first rounder like Navarro. And much like Navarro if he comes over I can see him taking a similar path.
