All basketball talk aside, one thing i noticed last night, was how most of these kids are just super good kids and nice people. Ive been watching basketball since 92 and the leagues image has always been questioned. Well, after last night, anybody questioning these kids character is just hating.

First 3 picks had me feeling super emotional and proud of the NBA and the parents of this new wave.

I’d never really seen Zion interviewed before. After seeing the real emotion after he was drafted, you can’t help but like the guy. He came across as really genuine to go along with being a fantastic talent. I’m a fan now.

I thought the same thing last night. I’m not sure if it is because of the way they were raised, realizing how rare it is to become an NBA player/appreciating it, or something else, but year in and year out, there seem to be more and more explempary young men becoming NBA players. Regardless of the reasoning, the NBA’s future gets brighter every season.

I have a lot of friends who do not like Duke at all, but every single one of them likes Zion because of his character. Some of them have even said that ESPN is trying their best to annoy us with all of the covereage around him, but he always takes the high road and gains more fans that way.

 Coby White’s reaction to Cam getting picked was real. He displayed genuine joy and love for him getting picked much higher than he was projected to basically just because of his age. He took time during his post-draft press conference to talk about how hard and dedicated his college teammate was and couldn’t have cared less about talking about himself. I was really sad the Wolves didn’t pick him at 6, and even more so after seeing what kind of character he really has… Wish him the best in his NBA career.

Most of these kids have been playing organized basketball for 10 years nonstop. Its crazy. They truly are already professionals. You can just see how hard they have been working. Theres no silverspoon like there used to be where guys would just make it based on talent and enter the league jaded, if you dont put your all into it and give 110% these teams nowdays wont even give you a chance.

Back in the days, most kids started on the playgrounds and basically came straight outta ghetto. 

 

Nowadays things are much more structured. When a kid is good, he will always find a good coach with access to a gym and professional training. 

 

Of course with internet, Youtube and the social networks you also have more resources and  the possibility to get more exposure. That also means you have to be more careful because all your antics or bad relations will be covered sooner or later.

Most of them were born around 2000, interesting.  Also noticed the strong child/parent relationships with a a lot of touching moments especially with a few of the dads.  Wonderful examples for the world to see.   Zion crediting his mom for her sacrifice was great to witness.  It looks pretty good for the future of the the NBA if this is representative of what’s to come from these young men.
