Run it back next year with the same squad. I mean literally, as much as possible, the exact same squad. Right down to telling Kanter (player option) you want him back, and extending a qualifying offer to Wanamaker.
Everyone always wants to break up a team that even slightly disappoints … that would be dumb. The Celtics are still a very young team. They have three first-round picks in the upcoming draft, and three first-round picks currently under contract (the Williamses and Langford) who have barely gotten a chance to play. Odds are 2 of those 6 will at least be solid NBA role players. Tatum is a top-15 player, Brown is not far behind and they’re both still getting better. Danny Ainge, don’t be dumb. This team will win a championship one day.

They’ll improve as a unit. Tatum, Brown, and Kemba are the non-negotiables. I’m not 100% on Marcus Smart. He sucks up more offense than he deserves. I think he should be on the B unit and they should get a knock down shooter in the A unit who doesn’t take up too much ball.

I know they’re training Tatum to be THE guy and maybe he is. But sometimes I think Brown should be.

I still think they are a little thin up front. Theis is solid but undersized and limited offensively. Kanter can really only be effective against certain lineups. Williams has potential but is inconsistent and hasn’t proven he can be relied on in big moments yet. None of those guys can really space the floor. Their big 3 is set in stone and smart is the heart of their team and likely not going anywhere either. But I think they may need to look to tweak some things and balance out their roster a little more.

I don’t think they bring back Wanamaker and I think they should give one other their rookies a shot or draft one of them. Kanter should not be back, and I think that Time Lord and Grant Williams can fill his role pretty easily. Tatum is the guy and I don’t think Jaylen Brown gets much better from where is his right now. They certainly have a decision to make next year with Hayward. I’m worried he joins Luka after Boston which is gonna be a little crazy if they get another good piece.

Run it back with the main core (Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Walker, Smart, Theis) and try to trade a draft pick or two for an experienced player preferably a back up point guard. Draft Jaden McDaniels at #14 and try to trade the #26 and #30 draft picks for veteran players. Also, backup center Robert Williams should have played over Enes Kanter against Miami like he did against Toronto. Williams offers more rim protection, lob action, athleticism to go up against the Heat’s Adebayo.

1. Option A- If they think they can combine 3 picks to getr wiseman, do it!!! or 2 picks for Oneyka

Option B- draft aaron nesmith, they need depth off the bench- specifically 1-2 knock down shooters, and more size at the 5.

2, Then look to sign shane larkin over seas.

3. Draft 2 picks up to draft Carey, then smith if they cant get option A

3 rookies is too much- 2 is the most they should have

Ainge broke up the big 3 and then did the Kyrie for Ish trade so isn’t afraid to make big moves but they do tend to be right longer term. Ainge is a lifer at Boston so he has no need to make moves to try and save hia job. Also he comes from the Red Auerbach line of thought that you can never have enough draft picks. He’ll trade them if needed but will always like to keep some available and not mortgage the teams future.

He’d want to have a very good look at each year’s draft class before he makes deals, if there is no one he fancies then he might go to trade plan. If there is someone he likes then he’ll do his best to draft them and his style is to have options which he can use either way he likes.
