 Question for everyone:

Why did Bol Bol slide all the way down to 44? Why do people think this happened.

The guy was projected anywhere from 10th pick down on this site.

I honestly saw the guy going 24th pick down due to the foot issues, I was kind of surprised to see the Pelicans give him a hard miss with their 2nd rounder at 35..

 The bigger question is why the Heat traded him for a 2022 2nd rounder and a bag of chips.

 Its gonna take alot of resources and time to get him to where he needs to be to suit up and play in the NBA. He didnt do well in interveiws either. So he flunked his health physical, he weighed in at just over 200 pounds and he flunked his predraft interveiws. In order to fix his injury concerns, get his body to where it needs to be and get him media trained and prepared for the rigourous NBA grind its going to take an entire department of NBA personnel that most teams just dont have staffed.

Hes actually lucky that Denver already has that department in place and has been working on Porter Jr. Them taking a chance on him is the best thing that couldve possibly happened to him. Denver will likely sit him out for the year and work on him independently which is exactly what he needs.

 He deserved to drop even further for that jacket. 

It must be either his health or he is an absolute fxck up. Everyone has bombed otherwise. Same size and wingspan as Rudy Gobert but he has a 3 ball. I always had Bol and Hachimura as two guys from this draft I thought would be really productive pros. I mocked him late lottery and thought he was going to New Orleans instead of Hayes after that trade..! I just want to know who Miami bought that 2nd Rd pick planning to take, cos they moved in then shipped Bol out.

 Not surprised he dropped, but shocked he dropped that late in the second and had so many teams pass on him multiple times. Like the Celtics who rumors said liked him passed on him three times. I like the players they picked, yet there has to be major issues with him. The he doesn’t work hard or the he doesn’t love the game stuff must be really bad. Add that to his frail frame and injury worries. Yet still shocked, he’s so skilled at his size that I can’t understand why someone at the top of the second didn’t gamble on him.

Either teams knew a lot more than us, or a bunch of GMs are going to look very stupid.

I’m not an expert on injuries, but I don’t see how Okeke gets picked 16th despite an ACL injury and Bol slides to the mid-second round with a foot injury. It’s got to be something non-health related. I think the questions surrounding his motor and overall motivation to play caused the slide. He’s basically this year’s Mitchell Robinson.

I think the days of players walking up and down the court and half-aszing it in the NBA are over. Bol has always had question marks about his motor dating all the way back to when he was a freshman in HS.

I really think the brand that the NBA has established is as good as it’s ever been. There are very, very few knuckle heads, guys getting in trouble off the court, and the league has overall placed an emphasis on guys who play hard.

On the one hand, I think Bol Bol has an extremmely high ceiling. On the other hand, there might not be a player who has entered the league in the past 10 years who plays with less effort. Really surprised he dropped this much, but upon reflection, maybe not.

What this means to me is it will be really interesting to see how this impacts LeMelo Ball next year, who has become known for cherry picking and playing no defense.

It’s not just that he doesn’t hustle on court, it took him an hour to mope onto the stage on draft night.

 7’2" Barely 200lbs with a decent amount of body fat. If he was in "good" shape, youre talking about a 7’2" 195lbs Center. With a foot injury. Foot injuries are WAY worse than ACLs. ACL, you repair the tendon and keep it moving. He had a stress fracture in his foot. Theres quite a good chance it happens again. Combine that with the fact that he needs 30 pounds minimum to have any semblance of NBA strength, and you can see that foot being an issue for his whole career. Combine THAT with the fact hes allergic to contact, is a sub par rebounder, doesnt have good footspeed, and definitely cant switch on the perimeter, and you have a 7’2 spot up shoot that plays 20 minutes a game because he cant guard as a ceiling. I wouldnt touch that with a ten foot pole. Thon maker 2.0

I know that stats don’t say it all but when I hear the motor question about Bol, I’m a bit shocked.

I don’t deny the fact that he has poor body language and seems a bit childish (as evidenced by his suit). Yet, over the last five years, how many freshman big man averaged 20pts 10rbds 3bl while shooting 50% from three (on as many attempts as Hunter).

Garland’s injury hasn’t prevented him from being taken at 5. How could an injury prevent a team drafting from 20 from picking Bol?

I wish he will use it as motivation to get his body ready and prove everybody wrong

 Putting in the work to reach his potential and love of the game. Like he lost over 20 pounds since the injury. Which maybe unfairly just backs up he wasn’t willing to put the work in. He’s like the opposite of most players that have to work to keep off the weight, he needs to work to get bigger. Like I really think him getting fat and weighing 250 pounds would have helped him, more than weighing 208 pounds. Like if he can’t put in the work and get to 240 pounds or close to it, he stands very little chance of holding up in the NBA long-term. You need that work ethic and it seems he doesn’t have it or didn’t show teams he did.

 These are fantastic points. His production was off the charts in those 9 games at Oregon and the tape was off the charts. He moves very well for 7’2, can drive, can pass, and shoot too. Should’ve easily been a lottery pick, even the anorexic physique and injury concerns.

 Was 238 pounds going into the draft and is close to 250 now. Bol would have easily been a first round pick if he weighed that much!

His jacket was pretty bad *ss. It was a spider web. I thought he or Tyler Herro was best dressed. From his interview he looks soft. Someone compared him to Thabeet and I’m wondering if that may be true.

 I’m surprised that he fell that far but the likes of Burford, Ainge, Pritchard, Riley and co know hell of a lot more about players than any of us will ever do. So there must have been alarm bells about him for so many teams to pass on him.

But don’t forget that DeAndre Jordan fell into the 2nd round in 2008 when there was a lot of hype about him.
