According to sources tied with Roc Nation, Kyrie is preparing to sign with the Nets. Well I guess he wants to go home. Hopefully for the Nets Durant follows him because Im not sure how that gets them over the hump otherwise. Celtics probably drop out of the AD talk and the Pels will keep losing leverage.

I feel the options for the Nets to pair with Irving are:

#1: KD

#2: Jimmy Butler

#3: Tobias Harris

#4: D’Angelo Russell 

 

It’ll be interesting how it shakes out.

 I can’t wait for the draft and free agency. It should be an exciting summer with a lot of great and good players available.

I do wonder if players feelings on Kyrie have changed because of his year in Boston. If the reports are true the Nets aren’t scared of bringing in Kyrie. A lot of rosters are poised to look very different by mid July.

 Very strong mail that Tobias Harris has mutual interest with the Nets. If D-Lo is gone then, the lineup would be:

Kyrie Levert Harris Harris Allen

Dinwiddie Kurucs Prince RHJ 

Then they would no doubt be going after bigs with their picks, with likely at least one of Goga, Hayes, Claxton, Gafford, Clarke, Naz Reid, Fall or Moses Brown still available.  No way all 8 of these guys go before they pick at 27 and they get another pick at 31.

 Kyrie would need a top level guy alongside him to make the Nets a legit 50 plus win contender. If we assume that Russell moves on then adding Kyrie would make the team a bit better but not propel it to the next level on his own.

With KD being out, going for him would be a risk and you effectively waste one of Kyrie’s years if KD doesn’t really play next season.

Does anyone know what Kyrie’s relationship with Horford is like as he could opt out and take a longer deal for less and potentially be the 3rd star/locker room leader on a team with Kyrie?

Big Al isn’t the player he was but he’s still very effective and is the sort of guy a top level FA might like on their team.

 Durant will probably stay one last year with the Warriors due to his ruptured achilles. No sense in any team signing Durant this offseason as he’ll be out the entire first year he is with them. Nets could get Durant next offseason but not this one. I still think the Nets have a strong case for Anthony Davis Davis. Can’t they offer D-lo via sign and trade? They could offer the Pels D-lo, Levert, and the 27th pick or even a 2020 pick or both. To me that’s better than what Celtics or Knicks or even the Lakers offers are. Celtics will pull out since Kyrie is leaving and Davis won’t re-sign so it would just be a one year rental. Not worth it to offer Tatum, or Brown, for only a one year rental. Lakers offer isn’t strong enough, nor is the Knicks.I seriously think the Nets have the best offer, it may not be where Davis wants to go, but he doesn’t have a trade clause in his contract. So he doesn’t get to decide where he goes. He’s not a free agent not until next year. For now the Pels still decide where he goes, and that will be where the best offer is, which I believe is the Nets.

If they do lose out on Davis, then yes, Nets will go hard after Durant, but they’ll have to ultimately wait until next off-season to sign him, as he will be out the entire 2019-2020 season with a ruptured achilles so he’ll re-sign with the Warriors for a year to let it heal fully, before he entertains offers during the 2020 offseason.

Marks isn’t that dumb. D-Lo’s staying. Next year he’ll be an upgrade to Irving. Not sure how Ainge got swindled in to Kyrie’s hype.
