We wasted so much time on a Batum, a guy Portland kept saying they were going to rematch.  We lost out on Lee and Scola while we were waisting time on Batum.  According to reports, both wanted to be T-Wolves.

Now we are down to Greg Stiemsma, Jordan Hill, and probably Ronnie Brewer.. YUCK!  Good luck keeping Love..

what do you mean good luck keeping Love? even though he has the strange opt-out ability after 3 years, they still have 3 more years with him!

Jordan Hill is going to LA, Stiemsma would be huge, but you guys need Rubio to be back healthy, and if Roy can play in 80% of games and be at even 70% of what he once was, that’d be huge for you guys. Good move by amnestying Darko, Batum would’ve been nice for you guys, but you still have time to develop, if you guys end up with a high lotto pick, and pair that guy with Love, Rubio, and Nik Pek(He’s gonna be a top 7 big man very soon), than you guys would have a very nice team for the future, And not getting Batum means that Derick Williams will get more time, albiet it be at the 3 instead at his natural position at the 4, but at least having Roy pushes Wesely Johnson out of the starting lineup. I don’t mean to be harsh but he’s just downright terrible.

On the other hand, the nonguaranteed portion of Pierce’s deal would make him a more appealing trade target if Boston underperforms and decides to enter into an honest rebuild by flipping as many assets as possible.

The Heat may not want to pay the mammoth tax bills that will come every season these guys are around, but they still have the amnesty provision in the bag and a few mid-sized contracts (Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem, Joel Anthony) expire after 2014-15, providing at least a little relief.

It has been an eventful offseason for Joe Johnson, whose trade from Atlanta to Brooklyn clinched the re-signing of Deron Williams and sparked mixed reactions among diehard Atlanta fans. Right now, Johnson is one of about a dozen NBA players going through a week-long “boot camp” with trainer Manning Sumner at Sumner’s Legacy Fit facility in Miami. Johnson took some time before a workout to chat with SI.com about the last few months and what comes next in Brooklyn. Below is an edited transcript of our conversation:

I’ll tell you what: I’ve been to New York, but I’ve never really been out in New York like that. I had never been to Brooklyn until the press conference, and that was something like I’ve never experienced before. It was unbelievable — all the fans coming out to welcome us. It was something I’ve never been a part of.  I had a great time.

I don’t know, I don’t know. I’m trying to see a lot of different places.

That’s a mark that would have tied Toronto for 25th in points per possession, per NBA.com’s stats tool. The Knicks spent most of the season as one of the league’s 10 worst offensive teams and one of its 10 stingiest defensive teams. If the offense doesn’t improve, especially when all the high-priced stars play together, the Knicks have a limited ceiling.

Power forwards touch the ball at the elbow more than anyone, with Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, Pau Gasol, Greg Monroe and LaMarcus Aldridge leading the league in touches per game, but they pass the ball about 75 percent of the time, per STATS.

He sort of fakes a right-to-left crossover before pulling the ball back to his right and powering to the hoop.

Stoudemire is actually a decent passer when he catches above the foul line and has time to survey the floor, but he’s not near the Gasols’ level and can’t regularly punish defenses — or invigorate offenses — with his high-post passing.

The offense didn’t work, for lots of reasons. This data might indicate that one reason was a collective failure to place every player in the “correct” spot on the floor at the right times and in the right proportions.

Those are all fair questions. And even if Kobe “fails” at each of them, the Lakers should still have a top-five offense simply by virtue of their talent on the floor. L.A. ranked 10th in the league in points per possession last season, and its upgrades at center and point guard —

Bryant will be at the center of a lot of those choices, as plenty of scribes — including Sebastian Pruiti, Anthony Macri, Henry Abbott, Beckley Mason and I, among others — have already noted.

Bryant got some of his very best looks — both in the post and at the rim — off well-designed, quick-hitting cuts that gave him the chance to catch-and-shoot at close range, or to catch, take one dribble and create an easy look.

By my count, there are seven Hall of Fame locks or players approaching that category who have a chance at wearing only one NBA uniform. They are:
