Snatalini247ParticipantIt’s now been two years with out Embiid seeing NBA action. There are still local rumbles that he is still a big part of the Sixers plan even to the point where local sports media figures are stating that Okafor may even be traded this off season for a pick. No idea about the truth of this but it wouldn’t surpise me given all the Hinkie-ing over the last few years.
My question is should I stop keeping hope that this guy is still going to just magically become healthy for the rest of his career next year and become a star or should I give up hope? It’s so hard dealing with this team. I wouldn’t even mind the perpetual tanking if they could at least make good picks of players that fit. They could have a young core of Noel, Aaron Gordon, and Mudiay (heard Porzigins agent told the sixers not to draft him or hed never come over) right now, but instead they drafted 3 guys who shouldn’t be playing anything but center in a row.

NBAjunkie81Participantthere 2013 Draft pick was MCW……. When Hinkie came on board in May of 2013 – just one month before the Draft b/c Doug "Franchise Killer" Collins just up & rolled out……
Collins pushed in ALL your chips for the Bynum trade….. And Every expert in the League LOVED it….. Bynum was 25 coming off 5 straight years of playing 65 games & All playoff games for the Lakers, averaged 19 & 12 in 2012…… ESPN in their "Top 200" NBA players had Bynum ranked as the #11 overall best player in the NBA & the #2 Center behind Only Dwight HOward (who was a perennial MVP Candidate back then)……
So when Hinkie got the Job, he had a core of 3 mediocre 6’5” players signed to long term deals (Holiday, Turner & Young)…… & Doug Collins had Also traded away their 2012 First round pick Maurice Harkless & their 2015 & 2017 First round picks…. So Hinkie was in "we gotta get some Draft picks mode"…..
So Hinkie worked out a trade w/ New Orleans for PG Jru Holiday….. Hinkie gave the Pelicans GM a list of 3 names & if one of them was available he would do the Holiday Deal……. The names were Noel, Oladipo & Porter…… Noel was rated as the #1 prospect in the Draft but he had an ACL tear so he fell to #6….. Phila scooped him up # also got New Orleans 2014 First round pick…..
So Hinke did Not draft a Center in 2013…… In 2014 he drafted Joel Embiid #3 & that was Absolutely the right move….. Embiid is a transcendant talent – you just Have to take that risk & I believe Embiid could have played last year but the Sixers talked him into being cautious….. Anyway, with the other pick they received from New Orleans the #10 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft…… Hinkie again played poker by floating a rumor that the Sixers were shopping MCW……. & were going to Draft Elfrid Payton at #10……
Orlando who wanted PG Payton badly Panicked……. & Offered Hinkie the Sixers 2017 First round pick Back to them that Doug Collins had traded away….. The Sixers got 6’10” Dario Saric – who they wanted All along & picked up another 1st round pick….. So Hinkie got 3 Lottery picks for Jru Holiday……
Another point No one talks about is that the Sixers (Collins) had traded their 2015 First round pick to Boston but it was Lottery protected….. If the Sixers did not suck in 2014, Boston would have gotten that #3 overall pick they used to get Okafor….. So drafting 2 players Saric & Embiid they knew would not play was strategy….. B/c the 2015 pick did not transfer, Boston will get a couple 2nd round picks instead – which are Worthless…..
Sorry for the long post, but the point is Don;t give up on Embiid or your team….. Phila has a TON of high 1st round Draft Picks…… & they are Loaded w/ blue chip talent on the front line….. Noel is an Excellent player, ….. Okafor is a Lock All Star…… Saric is also an excellent pro prospect ……. & Embiid is a Super Star…..
You are gaurenteed to get At Least 3 first round picks this June….. The Lakers are going to be terrible for a few more years – No Free Agent is signing there until they get Much better…… So whether that Lakers pick converts in 2016, 17 or 18 – it’s going to be a High Lottery pick….. You guys are owed a 1st round pick by Denver, Sacramento, OKC, Miami & L.A. …. plus you have ALL your own picks back…..
I’ll paint a picture for you…. I’d LUV to see you guys get Simmons….. B/c even if Embiid Never plays a front court of Simmons & Okafor will absolutely Dominate the NBA in 4 or 5 years….. Think about that….. Let’s say you get Simmons or Ingram w/ your pick…… & then the Lakers fall from 2 to 4 like the Knicks did just last year…… & then Hinkie take Jamal Murray – who will be a Scoring Machin in the NBA……. & then let’s say Hinkie packages the Miami & OKC picks you guys own & trades up to #15 & Drafts Univ of Wash 19 y/o PG 6’5” Dejounte Murray…… Think about that……
It’s InSane! Let’s just say they get Ingram & not Simmons….. You got the Muuray twins at PG & SG both 19 & 6’5”….. then you have 6’9” Ingram at the SF spot……. 6’10” Dario Saric & 6’11” Jahlil Okafor splitting time at the PF spot…… & at Center you have 7′ Jumping Jack Nerlens Noel splitting time w/ 7’2” Monster Joel Embiid…….. AND on top of that you STILL have Multiple 1st round picks in 2017, 18 & 19….. AND you own swap rights w/ Sacramento in 2017 AND there is a GOOD chance the 2019 first round pick the Kings owe you could become the #1 overall pick……
Something CRAZY special is growing in Phila & pretty soon people around the Whole League are going to be Crying about it…… And Joel Embiid looks fantastic….. So def don’t give up yet…… Anything in Life that become sGreat is worth suffering for……
