Does anyone else think the Celtics should call it if Kyrie bounces to another city? They have a ton of money going in to Hayward the next two years who looks like a shell of himself. Horford is good but still seems like a 3rd banana on a championship level team. Depth isn’t really there otherwise. Guessing Rozier leaves after his recent comments.

They do however have picks and two young potential studs in Tatum and Brown. Would it really make sense trading them for AD if Kyrie walks and them already being to cap strapped with Heyward and Horford if he re-ups to bring in another star to fit with Davis just for him to possibly leave the year after? The 2020 free agent class seems kind of like trash other than Davis and restricted free agents so I’m not even really sure who they could pair with him and theyd have no assets left to trade.

This really makes no sense to me and I feel like they’d be better off just going back to square one and pilling up young assets for now. I’d like to see them be competitive as what I consider the peak rival of my team but I just don’t see that happening anymore in the finally improving East. What do you guys think time to blow it up or should they be what I considered stubborn and go for Davis regardless of what Kyrie does?

No chance they are dumb enough to put Tatum on the table, so the AD trade is off, no matter what the media is saying. Kyrie is probably going to the Nets, so they should resign Rozier, or maybe pick up DLO from the Nets.. They gotta work on restructuring that Horford’s deal if possible. I also see Morris leaving, so develop the young core, they’ll be pretty good, and hope Hayward gets back to his former self cause that contract is awful right now…

Yeah I’m not sure if it’s legal but if Kyrie goes to Brooklyn with another max player I would try to make it a sign and trade for DLo.  From there just build around the youth movement and see what happens from there.

They definitely shouldn’t go after Davis if kyrie leaves but they shouldn’t blow it up either. Kyries presence clearly seemed to have a negative on some of the younger guys. You have to hope that Tatum and brown will maybe take the next step with Irving gone. Hayward looked better as the season went on and you have to hope that with a full offseason to recover he’ll be able to come back healthy and at least closer to the player he was before the injury. With horford opting for at least one more season, there is still enough talent on the roster to potentially contend for a top 4 seed in the east if everything goes right. 

They could also potentially look to move Hayward if they are willing to attach some of their picks. A Hayward swap for mike Conley and other assets might be at least worth exploring.

 They younger core looked good last post season…Kyrie walking will be good for them. I would try and trade Hayward, he doesn’t fit with Tatum and Brown and his contract is bad, he’s not worth the amount getting paid and his value will decrease playing with this team.

I think a big part could be what Al Horford does with his player option. While walking away from 30mil, given his playstyle & what he did to guys like Giannis he will likely get snapped up quickly for longer money by another team. (2yr – $50mil or 3yr – $66mil as an example, it’s more money long-term if something happens)

If this happens then yeah I think they should look at a built of a rebuild, although I dont expect them to struggle for much as they still have plenty of talent at a playoff level like Tatum & Brown are no longer rookies.

As for Gordon Hayward I would say move him as he just doesn’t fit next to Tatum & Brown or fit their new likely timeline. I still think Hayward is an All-Star talent, he was still very efficient & took the least amount shots per game since his rookie year.
I’d be looking for guys that are young, but still be able to contribute immediately or some expiring deals for another draft pick. Although I’m not sure how many more draft picks they could actually use.

 Boston still a playoff team without Kyrie. They may even be a better team overall.

 Rozier and Kyrie are gone, but another key player was Marcus Morris. They have a few ways to play this. They may tell Horford they’ll wait it out and let the kids develop. If so, will he want out?

In 2-3 years they’ll still have Brown, Tatum, Robert Williams (who is going to be a beast) and their new draft picks. Hayward will come off the books, then they’ll be a pretty scary group again. 

If they decide to re-tool and keep pushing, it may cost a lot of money to end up in the queue behind Toronto, Milwaukee, Philly and whoever else bought up big over summer. The approach may be different to what’s expected as well – I think they’ll go for an unexpected player either by signature or trade. Ainge is always one to pull something out. One relatively minor deal that I think the player will push for is IT coming back. I think they’ll tell him he’s not the preferred starter but he’ll be given a chance if he earns it and you’ll see #4 back.

 Hayward’s injury last season really derailed things IMO. I think they will hold fire for a year or so to see how Tatum and Brown develop. They will be clear of Horford and Hayward’s contracts in one and two year’s respectively and would potentially have FA space next summer.

They have Smart, Rozier and some other young players too plus all the draft picks so Ainge still has a lot of ammo up his sleeve. 

Ainge knows how to retool a team and has a top coach in Stevens so if Boston don’t challenge for a couple of years, I don’t think this is anything to worry about as they have the personnel who know how to put a team together,
