OhCanada-ParticipantAlso cap is expected to stay at 109 million. Still fluid though I’d imagine the guys in the bubble may contest.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantI Understand why some players and teams seem to be upset with the start time. Especially teams that finished their season just 2 weeks ago.But they did have 5 months off after the league shutdown in March. It’s the rookies should be upset about having only a few weeks to get acclimated to the nba. I read that some free agents r already signed deals. As for the reason for the early start It comes down to meeting the demands of the networks who don’t wanna loose money. But as a Basketball fan I’m happy to have it back as soon as possible!!

OhCanada-ParticipantIsn’t that messed up. No summer league, jump right into training camp. In some ways they may actually have an advantage conditioning wise though. Whats this mean for Euro prospects? Free agency right after the draft too.
Upcoming NBA schedule
Sept. 28: Beginning of Draft Combine (through early-to-mid November)
Oct. 16-Nov. 16: Teams can begin to conduct in-person interviews with draft prospects
Nov. 18: 2020 NBA Draft
Nov. 20-22: Proposed start of free agency
Dec. 1: Proposed start date to begin training camps for 2020-21 season
Dec. 22: Proposed opening night for 2020-21 season3+ -

Scrooge McDuckParticipantYou don’t think they’d miss an opportunity to complain and outrage do you?

armchairgmParticipantThey should wait until MLK day, even then the teams that played in October would get a month less in the offseason this year.

sniperParticipantNo one is talking about the role of the pandemic in this, so I think the whole thing’s still way up in the air. If the pandemic is still raging at or above current levels i don’t see how you can have a basketball season, except in another bubble situation.

armchairgmParticipantFootball, baseball, and college sports are doing it with no bubble. Yes players will get it and will be more of a pain then being in a bubble, but as we have seen it can be done.

OhCanada-ParticipantYes I agree. I think we re still far away from a concrete starting date I don’t think the December 22nd start will fly. I honestly think they are just saying this so people don’t cancel their league pass/cable subscriptions right away.

sniperParticipant“Some of us will get it” would be a real turnabout from the stand the NBA took this summer. I’m not sure how the NBPA would feel about that.
Also, and I hate to bring politics into here, but I wonder how some of the more activist players would feel about starting the season if 10 million people are in the streets protesting the uncertain outcome of the election.. It’s crazy to be thinking about these things in relation to when basketball season starts, but here we are.
