Lotto StudParticipantIf Russell Westbrook would slide over to the 2, it would make it so much easier to play with him. For those who doubt it, he played the 2 at UCLA.

OhCanada-ParticipantYou need to put shooters around him. I dont think it matters if he plays PG or SG he can gaurd both positions.

Lotto StudParticipantA slashing Westbrook is more dangerous than one who looks for the iso.

XYRYXParticipantLet’s be real here, Russ is a PG for more then a decade now and grew into a All NBA player playing point guard. He won’t be a SG and probably won’t accept that role let alone he is almost useless without the balm in his hands.
I‘m still trying to get my head around the fact that PG13 and his trade demand completely changed the outlook for this team. Maybe just maybe this did us a big favor since with this immense payroll we were just witnesses in this offseason and couldn’t do anything significant to improve this roster. This is a big chance to get under the mixers tax line and restart this franchise. We peaked with a terrible coach and a point guard who is unwilling to change his game for the better of the franchise.
The only way I see this unfolding nicely with Russ staying is if SGA is playing the 2 and is Bradley Beal only being younger and not there yet but everyone around the Clippers was raving about his play, character and maturity. If Russ is not demanding a trade, try to trade Schröder along with one of this picks we just got and try to get under the tax line or just trade Russ if he wants this and restart from scratch and keep Adams who is still only 25 and a fan favorite. His 2 years remaining don’t really hurt if we just want to restart this thing since someone has to lead this young team and Adams has the tools to do this.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI think Russ has to be traded at this point. His age, playing style is a factor, and they are going to have to rebuild now that PG is gone. Westbrook could have been dealt or left in free agency when KD left, now another teammate leaves you almost have to trade him unless you can sell him by bringing in Beal but it would have to be vía trade and Russ is the only player that would match his value.
On the plus side I really like the idea of trading Russ to the Wizards for Beal. The Wizards could start over and rebuild after Wall’s injury, and the Thunder could team SGA with Beal at either point or 2. I could also Gallo including in the Russ trade to balance things out, match salaries, and lower payroll of Thunder.

OhCanada-ParticipantSGA has a chance to be special. Galinari fills the role PG played in his 1st season with OKC offensively but he can never replicate what PG did for them on the defensive end. Galinari is a great fit next to Westbrook though and helps them play more like a team through Westbrook. The picks are also great.
Great trade for OKC.

MettaWorldDurant1ParticipantI Doubt the Wizards would take on Westbrook’s contract with John Walls contract on the books that’s almost 400 million on 2 players over the next couple seasons WOW

Andv1 WaitingParticipantAssuming no Westbrook trade:
The trade is making lemonade out of a lemon situation.. I will disagre with one thing though.
I see Danilo most likely being slotted into the PF position and Jermi grant sliding over to the SF spot. As Danilo is taller and probably can space the floor better than Grant. But offensively I will agree Danilo will fill some of the hole left by P.G.
Overall though this trade makes us a lot deeper with added future depth.
My guess is our starting lineup will be this assuming Donovan doesn’t goe full dumba** on us and baring trades…
Starters: Adams,Danilo,Jermi Grant,SGA,Russ
Bench:
Noel,one of Mike M or Pat P,Terrance F, one of Roberson/Diallo/Darius, and Dennis S
However I would be surprised if we traded all our vets for either expiring deals and if we let all our youth get the minutes to see who is kept if we go full rebuild around SGA and one or two other pieces out of our young group.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantIf we keep Westbrook/he doesn’t ask for a trade…
SGA is better off playing SG on offense as his jumper looks less broken and at least respectable from range+ …Also he is taller meaning he is more able to guard both spots..
Westbrooks jumper is shakey at best and that is even if he regains MVP form shooting %.. Hopefully it was just the offseason surgery that made him lose a little lift due to very little offseason work put in..
