ChoppyParticipantWhat are people’s thoughts on this? 10 years ago, the idea of Rose and Griffin on the same team would’ve been unbelievable. In 2019…?
Rose turned back the clock somewhat last season. He still only played 51 games. Now I don’t follow Minny much, so did he play this few games due to injury? Are his major injury concerns behind him?
Personally, I like the pick up. If he’s anything close to what he was last year, he’ll be the scoring off the bench we’ve been missing (and possibly starting if Reggie Jackson stinks up the joint).0 -

Sewok15ParticipantInterestingly enough I made most of the roster updates today on 2k and simulated a season. The Pistons beat the Thunder for the title. It was weird the Lakers won like 28 games but clearly free agency is far from over.

mowestenParticipantDetroit is in that weird, rudderless, pointless position of basically going nowhere, but not bad enough to get better in the draft with high picks.
On the other hand, they have squandered many picks over the years, and have not yet proven they are capable of building something worthwhile through the draft in the positions they have been picking. …
Rose is just another piece, that if healthy, guarantees they won’t win 17 games or something, but he’s not good enough to make them relevant either. To me, it just feels like one of a countless moves that many teams seem to always be making which can be best described as, ‘We have to sign someone."

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThey took Luke Kennard before Donovan Mitchell, Henry Ellenson before Pascal Siakam, and Stanley Johnson before Devin Booker and Justise Winslow. It isn’t the pick number that is killing them, it is bad drafting.

BeastMode716ParticipantHall of Fame career – younger fans don’t realize how special this guy was early in Chicago & at the Univ of Memphis w/ Calipari – just a freak of nature type of talent
Rose has really worked his @ss off & when your body starts to break down it just doesn’t ever go back to anything close 100%
But this guy has battled & battles & I’m happy he got a 2 year deal
Detroit got a solid vet player at a good price in a League where teams desperately need guards & wings
But overall, the Pistons are in that no man’s land of falling anywhere from the 6 seed to the 10 seed – so I don’t think D-Rose changes that

dmo21ParticipantDoesn’t seem like the greatest fit and pick up for Detroit. I thought they would be going pretty hard at shooters on the wing as you have Griffin and Drummond working down low. Don’t mind Rose in a 6th man role when he comes in to score with the back ups. Just thought it would be smarter to use that money on wing players when you’re hoping to get into the playoffs and your starting wings are probably going to be Kennard and Snell..

ChoppyParticipantIt seems Rose has improved his shooting as well though. I think he’s realised his athleticism wasn’t what it once was and so he’s had to add other facets to his game. Hopefully his uptick in shooting (last year was a career high % from 3) isn’t just a one year thing and it’s sustainable.
Apparently the reason he only played 51 games was he had surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow – was nothing related to his knees. I’m slightly encouraged by this.
