I would like to put an end to this ideology that Black players are automatically better than White players BECAUSE they are Black. Lets get this right. First of all, as a Black man myself, there is nothing in my DNA that predisposes me to being an above average basketball player. Ive heard every theory from the “Slave massa” theory to the “Run Brotha Run” theory, and Im here to tell you that ITS ALL A JOKE! The better prepared man is going to be the successful one. So if you have been playing ball since the age of 2 and have the physical gifts, it doesnt matter what color you are. If you were brought up next to a gym, and had a genuine love for the game abd shot day in and day out and, heres the real key IMO, PREPARED YOURSELF FOR THE NBA GAME, you had every chance to be an above average player too. A Black man doesnt just pick up a basketball and is able to throw it throw the rim. It takes practice, skill and determination. Any a HUMAN BEING wants to accomplish will take dedication and practice, not a DNA encoded from “breeding.” And the very idea that people try to liken Black men to horses is down right WRONG! BTW, Ive seen a 5’11 White guy throw down a few nasty dunks, an Arab American with handles like Derrick Rose, an Asian American with defense like Gary Payton, and a Black dude with a jumper like Kyle Korver. So the next time you go to the gym, and you want to get a pick up game, don’t pick that bald headed dark-skinned dude because of who he might look like. Pick that MAN because of skill!

Most black players look at their non black competition or teammates..I’m Spanish and I abuse these guys every chance I get…I don’t let the stigma’s effect my game…I like them under estimating me and then making them regret waking the beast…me and white guys women and small children rack up full court wins against…besides the kids that are programmed up(H.S NcaA.NBA) “hoops and ball handling ” only make for selfish players…nobody’s….that cant win or get out of their own way….Its realy funny watching that guy that can dunk try the whole game to get that dunk only to out rounded and schooled by the ScareCrow…LMAO

I hear what you’re saying….. every family in the world…. black, white, yellow etc. has family traits that are passed down through generations. It doesn’t necessarily have to be athletic, it could intelligence (did I spell that carrectly?).
or eye color shape of nose etc., you know what I’m saying (I hope). Any waythe best ball player can be defined in many different ways. Some people might prefer guards over forwards for example. Then do you want a true point guard like Nash, Jason KiIdd or a scoring hybrid guard such as Wade? In other words, it’s like oppinion and oppinions are like (?)

Back when i was not that good at ball, me and a couple of guys who were white beat an all black team and they were individually better than us. For so reason even though I was not that good at the time but was good enough, my white teammate kept passing me the ball. I am glad I played to the best I could and did not screw up.

look being a white guy that loves playing basketball and has played against black guys(went to a public school in philadelphia, which was racially diverse). black guys have always been more athletic than myself, and the hispanic guys that played with us. being a 14 year old i could slap backboard while black kids my age and height were dunking. that is an advantage. but you are right in saying race doesnt have anything to do with how a person plays basketball. because as scarecrow stated, i loved being underestimated as a player and enjoyed it even more when i was beating my opponent. the cool thing was, after a game i was respected by everyone.

now to take the argument further, i was one of the few good white players and was comfortable with my game and the culture in which basketball is associated(hip hop culture). many white people do not embrace this culture or feel uncomfortable around it for different reasons. so for that reason, i think is why african american or black players are more successful in the game of basketball, they embrace it as their sport, while a white guy may see a group of black guys and think the game isnt meant for him.

in conclusion, black players ARE, most of the time, more athletic than another race. there are exceptions to this rule(joe alexander, guillermo diaz) but not many.

white guys may feel uncomfortable playing with african americans if they are alone or in a small group(which this is becoming less and less). so if a white guy see a basketball game with some black guys and a hockey game with white guys, he is more likely to choose hockey.

race is why african americans are better at basketball but not because blacks have the gift of basketball but because basketball is more in the african american culture than the causcasian culture.
