If I were a betting man and had to guess which NBA team would win all of its remaining regular season games after arriving in Orlando, I definitely would have gotten some pretty strong odds on Phoenix. This was a team that seemed to have no realistic shot at the playoffs and was invited more on a technicality than anything else. They didn’t really seem to have a whole lot to play for and no one would have really blamed them if they just mailed it in. Regardless of what happens in the Portland game later tonight and whether they actually get the chance to play their way in, you have to respect what they’ve done here.

Of course, there is some context here. These games weren’t exactly played under normal circumstances and many of the teams they beat were resting key players. So, is the merely an outlier or the start of something bigger. How much of this translates moving forward into next season? This is a team that has played well in stretches before but never really been able to sustain it. Remember that they got off to a very good start this year before quickly falling off.

Man Monty Williams just has a way of getting his players to play past their potential down the stretch of the season. He snuck in the Playoffs with the Pelicans a few years ago in the same fashion (and got fired after smh). All respect to him for turning this talented young team with no motivation and coordination into a legit threat for the next season, whenever that maybe. I really wish they made it because they probably would’ve beat the Lakers.

their future looks bright for the suns, a great young coach, 2 building blocks in booker & ayton… and a possible top 10 pick…..there were some people asking y was phoenix among the teams invited to the bubble….but with a portland lost tonight , they play the grizzlies in the play in game….monty williams has given them an identity..monty williams has got those guys to commit to defense..even ayton has stepped up in that department…
bridges has started to show why he received so much hype coming out of nova…..rejects payne and carter have contributed….

but looking at the schedule they beat miami without the heat’s starting backcourt of jimmy butler & kendrick nunn….

defeated philly without its all stars embiid & simmons..
they beat okc without 3 of its starters…..
today in their win against dallas doncic only played 13 minutes and kp was out…in their first game inside the bubble against the mavs they only won by 2 pts….and a 2 pt win over the clippers.
but hey a win is a win!!!

I’ve always thought Phoenix had talent, but they couldn’t get it together. I questioned the heck of James Jones I didn’t like the Kokoskov firing after one season, reaching on Cam Johnson, I liked him, but I thought it was blasphemy that he went in the lottery as a 24 year old, injury prone senior, especially since he got better towards the end of the season, but kudos to Monty Williams. They got it going towards the end of the season, and if they start off in the right note, they should make some noise next season. I always felt that next year was their year.

For the draft though, they will enter with the 10th best odds at the #1 pick, if they don’t make it. If they move up in the draft and get an opportunity to take LaMelo, they could be in a real prime position, to either fleece New York, or get a running mate beside Booker.
