Notes: Deep division with 4 legitimate playoff contenders. Houston obviously has the star-power but who knows if they’ll all be happy trying to share 1 ball. I think they’ll figure it out and be the best team in this division. Expect the Spurs to be really solid as they added depth, get Murray back and have a budding star in Derrick White. Plus – Aldridge is still a near 20-10 guy. New Orleans and Dallas are really hard to predict. The Mavs could go 1 of 2 ways. 1, they win 35 games and cant crushed on the boards and Luka doesn’t take a step forward. Or 2, Porzingis and Luka absolutely blow it out of the water and the rest of the team contributes soundly. Hoping its the 2nd for Mavs fans but I’m not certain they’re athletic enough. Pelicans are really young – think they’re still 1 year away from being legit contenders but I do think they’ll win 40 games. Grizzlies will likely suffer a big time losing season as their wings are pretty bad – one of the worst duos in the NBA – but Jackson and Morant have huge potential

Dallas: You really think they’ll go with Doncic as the only playmaker? I would start Wright and Curry in the backcourt. Bring Hardaway off the bench so he gives the 2nd unit some scoring punch.

Houston: I think Gordon will have to go back to the bench so the 2nd unit has a go-to scorer. He’s my pick for 6th Man of the Year. I really like how the Rockets have quietly brought almost everyody back, signing Nene and Ryan Anderson at the last minute, and filling out the bench with vets Chandler and Sefolosha. In another thread I picked Sixers over Clippers in the finals. I think I’m gonna change my pick — this is the Rockets’ year. Plus Morey always makes a key acquisition or two midseason — I think they will do everything they reasonably can to get Iguodala.

Memphis: Please trade Iggy and Kyle Anderson. They can’t help a team of youngsters who need to learn fom their mistakes. They belong on winning teams full of high-IQ vets.

New Orleans: A team getting those stats from its starters, with Ball, Hart and Moore off the bench, seems like a really good team.

San Antonio: If my team gets 10/5/2 with adequate 3PT shooting from Carroll, I will have a Spursgasm. We are dark-horse contenders if those starters post the stats you predicted. I didn’t love the Carroll signing — I think he might be this year’s Dante Cunningham. This team would have maybe the best 2nd unit in the NBA — Mills, Forbes, Belinelli, Gay, Poeltl. Lonnie Walker and Trey Lyles would be the stars of garbage time.
