 Anyone have players that they think have been drafted into good situations?

I personally really like Jaxon Hayes in N.O. The more tape I watch of this guy the more he impresses me with the awkward angles he is able to catch lobs at. That is going to be an extremely athletic and fast team.

 Lonzo, Jrue, Ingram, Zion and Hayes are the worst shooting lineup in the league. They’re gonna have huge problem with spacing

Overall, I agree they’ll be the worst from distance. 

Holiday was a good outside shooter until he was 24. I’m not sure what happened. Lonzo went from bad to not that great. He might make it to acceptable this year. I’m a little worried about Zion. I’m expecting around 30% from 3. Jaxson Hayes made 3 quarters of his free throws. I actually think he might not be too bad from 3, even if he didn’t shoot it from 3. I think Brandon Ingram is already a little above average from distance and he might get a lot better. He really started to bring up his free throws last season toward the end (along with all of his other stats). 

They’ll probably be too busy running to shoot a 3. They need to trade Jrue Holiday for some shooting if they strike out in free agency (likely).

RJ is the best player on the Knicks right now. He’s going to take shots, and play big minutes. Knicks might not win, but RJ will put up stats to contend for Rookie of the Year. 

Ja Morant was given the keys to Memphis, once they traded Conley. Ja will also play big minutes and have the ball in his hand a lot. Another candidate for ROY.

Brandon Clarke similarly fits right in with Ja in Memphis. He and JJJ can be really good next to each other and both will benefit from Ja

 I really like Samanic and Keldon Johnson in San Antonio. They needed wing and power forward and they get two very young guys with huge potential

I think cam reddish ended up in a great situation personally. He should get immediate mins in Atlanta but his offensive role should be limited at first and he should get a lot of clean looks out of the young/Collins pick and roll action. Can focus on defense and spot up shooting to start and gradually develop the rest of his game at the nba level. The fact that they added another wing in hunter in the lottery as well (who is projected to be more nba ready at this point) will take some pressure of him to produce right away as well.

Considering their personnel, they’ll have to put it in Redish’s hand a bit just to open things up. That’s best case scenario for him. He didn’t get that opportunity much in college, so when he actually got a hold of the ball he got nervous and shot it without thinking and immediately.

Kabengele to the Clippers, Little to the Blazers, Johnson to the Spurs, Claxton to the Nets, of course Bol to Denver, all high upside picks who fits a need for well-structured teams.

NAW could also bring much needed shooting as a 6th man at both backcourt spots.

Really some potential steals after the 25th pick (add KPJ, Fernando or Gafford to the picture)

Really like the Warriors and the pairing with Eric Paschall – who better to learn from than Draymond Green if you’re a stocky combo forward.

Also Sekou Doumbouya – if he can become something akin to a Pascal Siakam, that Sekou/Blake/Drummond frontcourt…watch out.

 I mean in terms of players landing in spots where they immediatly could earn starting spots I like Coby White, Darius Garland, Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Rui Hachimura.

 I don’t like this Garland and Sexton combo already. What are they going to do against bigger wings? How are they going to switch effectively against any team, knowing Love is likely on the floor with them too? They better have some very strong defenders with them, a fleet of foot big man and a Swiss army knife at the 3. This team is going to leak points badly otherwise.

Not a big fan of the Garland pick either, because the Cavs already drafted Sexton last year, who is essentially the same height as Garland. Yes, I see you are trying to build the Blazers of the east, and as much as we all love to watch Damian, we also can’t deny how poor defensively that team is. So yes, Cleveland will need to find better defenders than Portland has in order to succeed with that small backcourt. They will also need to rely on switching, because opponents will try to magnify their weakness in size and just dare the Cavs to shoot over them. If it were me I would have drafted Culver or White because they give you size, passing, and defense. White even gives you a good shooter. And Culver’s shot isn’t bad it’s just developing. You can’t deny his leadership on that young Texas Tech team to the championship game in the NCAA tourney, and we all know the Cavs could use some leadership with this young team they have.

but to defend the Cavs pick, maybe they intend to trade Love for the defense that they undoubtedly need. Also they realized that Sexton is not a passer he is a scorer, yet he has the size of a PG. He’s similar to a young Lou Williams, so maybe the Cavs realized this and found the best PG available at 5 and then at 26 and 30 found other players they liked to play the 2 and 3. This may not be their lineup at first but eventually they may go to: Garland, Porter Jr., Windler, Nance, Zizic with Sexton coming off the bench as a 6th man asked to do what he does best and score.

I felt like Culver was the perfect pick to pair with Sexton, a versatile guard who can pass and defend and would have been Sexton’s right-hand man

 Do you think the Cavs took Garland thinking they could get something from Minnesota? knowing they traded up in hopes of landing Garland?

There’s no doubt in my mind that why they took Garland. They thought that’s why MN moved up to 6 thinking Clevland didn’t need a PG and wouldn’t take him. I’m sure MN either didn’t want Garland or didn’t like Clevland price to trade.

The three guys the Spurs got seem like great fits. I’ve aleays been a fan of Witherspoon, kid can fill it up in a Blakeny sort of way. Long, rangy, pull-ups, etc. He could be a bench scorer in time.
