r377ParticipantRumors of Griffin possibly being traded and shut down. New one here
Detroit and Atlanta have been engaged in talks on a trade centered on Andre Drummond, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Woj adds Detroit is talking to Hawks and several other teams on Drummond, and that Drummond is unlikely to exercise his $28 million player option for next season. Considering the comments from ownership this week, the Pistons are likely going to sell off as much as they can prior to the trade deadline

OhCanada-ParticipantHawks need to chill they are playing with fire. If they really want Drummond they are better off bidding for him in free agency as it would actually be a pretty good landing spot for Drummond to play along side Young. Still a dangerous game to be giving up a ton of assets for someone that may walk and if he would resign then just pitch him next summer.
Detroit needs to blow this up asap and try to find a trade like OKC did for Paul if possible. The value CP3 is bringing to that organization right now as a leader and mentor to the young core especially SGA makes him worth his max contract right now. Hes really in his element.

festar35ParticipantPistons need to strip it down & rebuild from the ground up. I’d have everyone except Sekou Doumbouya & Luke Kennard available.
They have a good coach, now get a bunch of young guys in he can develop.0 -

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantI had drummond to the warriors a while ago, and people questioned why trade away drummond instead of build around him. He is NOT a franchise player. He is an elite role player like Green with better numbers. Thing is warriors now can probably get KAT who is a much better player if they get a top pick. If the warrors get a top 2 pick it seems to me all but certain they trade their top 2 pick, Russell (yes they want to play together), Looney and Evans or Poole for KAT and Covington.
Warriors will be back with a core of;
KAT, Green, Covington, Thompson, Curry
igoudala (will be back), Pascall, Burks, Lee, WCS0-

goddagParticipantI don’t know what you’re smoking canada, but the Wolves aren’t getting rid of Kat. Especially for the dogs you said. It’s a whole new regime in MN, all they need is time to bring in the new players. Kat loves Saunders and MN. So suck it up.

HitsterParticipantIf Drummond was always likely to test FA this summer and knows he could get more than opting in. The Pistons would probably be reluctant to pay the asking price and have around $70 million tied up in their frontcourt.
If Drummond has indicated that he will move on then it makes perfect sense to get what you can for him now. The Hawks don’t really seem an obvious team to me. The Raptors could be a decent option, they have Marc Gasol expiring and Pistons could buy him out. Throw in a pick or two and a deal could be there.
Moving Griffin could be an issue given his injury history and the value on his contract. D-Rose seems to have settled into the top bench guy role and at 31 years old and with his injury record would surely want to be on a contender. His minutes have to be monitored but this season he seems to be more sound than for several years and with a reasonable contract would be a no brainer pick up for a contender wanting bench depth. At worse the Pistons could get an expiring deal for him and save his salary for next season.

bt102ParticipantThey desperately need to blow it up. I was down for a Griffin to the Celtics before the season but now, I’m not even sure they do that. They have some good young pieces like Sekou, Kennard, and Brown. I like Drummond to Toronto for Gasol and some picks. I think should keep Blake for the rest of the season, and either trade him over the summer or next season when he will hopefully do better. Then try and get a late first or a young asset for Rose. Maybe Carsen Edwards and a second or a first from Boston?

festar35ParticipantGood I hope they send D-Rose to Chicago!!! They need a starting PG & could flick out Valentine & maybe a 2nd Rounder as well.

90sNYKParticipantPistons are in trouble!
PROS
Sekou has tons of untapped potential but still very raw.
D Rose looks great again.
Kennard has shown he developing as a shot creator and playmaker.
Brown has shown elite defensive skills and is starting to round out his repertoire.
Reggie Jackson expiring contractCONS
No one is going to give you equal value for what Drummond brings.
Blake is on the path to being washed and his contract looks like an albatross. Trading him will not be easy.
Not a FA destination
Front Office makes head scratching decisions. If they can get Atlanta to give them some 1st rounders a player like Len or Fernando and Chandler Parsons they should be thrilled.

HitsterParticipantSince they reached the last of 6 successive Conference Finals in 2008 the Pistons haven’t won a single play off game and only had one winning season. So their rebuild hasn’t really worked at all. So I agree that they do need to blow it up and if it means tanking for a couple more years to get very high picks then I feel it has to be done.
Dwane Casey look the Raptors from being a lottery team into being a legit contender and helped build most of the pieces for last years’ title so would seem to be an ideal person to oversee the rebuild if he was prepared to have a couple of 20 win seasons.
If they need someone to rip up the roster and get the rebuild started then they could always give Sam Hinkie a call. This is said slightly in jest but they do need to do something like “The Process”.
If they didn’t get any suitors for Blake Griffin, I wonder would they consider offering him a buyout and stretching his remaining years in order to free up cap space to maybe take on salary dumps for assets. Blake is owed over $75 million for his last two years but might he accept a $40 to $50 million buyout as he’d get a lot of suitors if he would then accept around $15 million a year so he wouldn’t lose out and could get onto a powerhouse team. The Pistons save a load on his salary and he gets onto a good side and doesn’t lose out financially.
