XYRYXParticipantSo finally the Sixers went all in with their core and they really need to show deep pockets going forward. Embiid is on a five year 150 million contract, Harris just signed for 5 and 180 million and they just added Horford and his 4 year 109 million salary. Oh and
This means it was the last time they had cap space to add someone of Horfords caliber and it will be interesting to see if the experiment with all the long guys works out for them but we‘ll see.
Is Simmons worth the max regarding his absurd fear of shooting jump shots considering his immense talent in all the other aspects of his game?
I don’t really know but in today’s league you have to secure someone like him even if it’s for the max and decide later if he fits your plan see the D-Lo trade which doesn’t really make a lot of sense if Curry,Klay and him earn 100 million per year together.
I have to say I haven’t seen an enigma like Simmons in a very long time and I also haven’t seen much progress from him last season. The stats are the same and no new aspects to his game. With Al now on board who is also a nice passing big man and Embiid showing some passing game as well there is the chance Simmons stats might even dip a bit next year and is this really worth a max deal if someone can’t shoot (not even make) a damn jump shot or at least is is so afraid to do so for whatever reason. I mean MKGs or Shawn Marion’s shot have also been ugly as hell but they were never afraid to let it fly. Heck even Roberson who shoots 2 airballs out of 10 three pointers takes them and he doesn’t give a damn what others say about it.
Thoughts?

r377ParticipantI guess they had to pay him that.
At least they are all sorted out now for the future. simmons, embiid, toby harris and richardson for at least 2 seasons

holefillers1ParticipantKlay Thompson gets a max as a second option being the best 3D in the league…off an ACL year then why not secure your 22 y.o. Talent in hopes that he completes his game. Also is Harris really worth more than Ben?

frogmanParticipantYou get more money from the max the longer you have been in the league I believe.

220ParticipantHopefully Ben gets with a sports psychologist or something to help his hesitancy shooting the ball. They’ve got to get him looking to attack constantly. Ben is so dominant in the other areas of his game, at his age, that giving him the max rookie extension is what the 76ers had to do.

EndlessknightParticipantI think problem has more to do with him shooting with the wrong hand then anything else. He’s a righty shooting with his left. It’s ridiculous.

OhCanada-ParticipantBarrett’s a righty shooting with his left too. I think his dad made him shoot left from a young age to get an advantage becuase its hard to gaurd.

EndlessknightParticipantThat’s the exact same reason Ben shoots with his left. His dad, a former pro player, forced him to because he thought it gave Ben an advantage. Now Ben’s been doing it so long he refuses to switch.

220ParticipantWhatever the problem may be he chooses not to shoot. He hits a decent percentage in practice, but refuses to attempt shots in the game. They have to get him taking shots even if it’s just spot up catch and shoot shots from time to time.
