I personally go Okongwu because I think he upside is about as high as Wiseman’s is, but I see Wiseman as a waay riskier player.

There is more to go off in terms of evaluating okongwu. I believe he is more advanced offensively at this stage than wiseman (although that is kind of difficult to tell since the tape on wiseman over the past year is so limited). Some people have compared him to Adebayo, but he is still a long way off from that at this point. He’s a great athlete who is still learning how to play the game right now. How he develops once he gets to the league could depend heavily on the team that drafts him. Would Adebayo have developed the same way in a different system than Miami?
Just in terms of physical profile you would have to give wiseman the upper hand. His length, wingspan, athleticism and ability to run the floor are gifts that few players in the league would be able to match. The questions with him surround his offensive upside and work ethic. It’s just very difficult to accurately evaluate him given the limited playing experience he has.
My gut feeling says that wiseman has the higher upside given his athletic gifts and I would probably have to go with him if given the choice. But I do believe okongwu would most likely be the safer pick right now.

Wiseman and it isn’t close. I know he was limited to three games at Memphis, but he dominated those three games. He’s a clone of Ayton. He can do all the things Ayton can do and is a better shot blocker. Ayton was the unquestioned #1 pick when he entered and I think that should also be the case with Wiseman. Okongwu is super athletic, but he didn’t dominate college games. He has good upside, but most of these kids have that. He might be great, but Wiseman can already dominate games.

People say that but Ayton has started to block shots. Ayton wasn’t the clear cut #1 pick. It was very apparant Phoneix wanted him but even at the time, Luka could just have easily gone #1. People just tried to find something wrong to question but even at the time, I still had him #1.

It’s very easy to say now you had Luka first. Lol. At the time Ayton was the clear cut #1, my Kings who are the worst talent evaluators in the league had MB3 above him, and the Hawks had Ice Trae above him too.

I know its very easy to say that now, I had Luka slighltly over Ayton. I know a bunch of Kings fans, I remember vividly telling them that if they don’t take Luka they will really regret it. I thought Kevin Knox was gonna be alright, yeah that backfired and I thought Zhaire Smith was gonna be alright too. They still could be but I doubt it now, but I also called Shai’s success, DiVincenzo, and Graham way before it happened.

Either way, I just don’t see with Wiseman. I think he will end up being a DeAndre Jordan type player but worse defensively and in a worse era.

Isaiah Stewart is a better prospect than Onyeka Okongwu. People are sleeping on Stewart but he will be a top 20 pick and a steal for where he is draft. Time will tell.

Okongwu gets all the hype but Stewart was the best big man in the Pac 12 last season and it wasn’t even close. Stewart dominated Arizona’s hype up Freshman big man Zeke Nnaji in head to head match ups as well.

Okongwu is like the prototype athletic NBA frontcourter but I think wiseman edges it with upsize and size. The one plus point for Okongwu is that he can play both PF and C whilst Wiseman is more a genuine C so he gives options if a drafting team already has their long term C in place.

Okongwu is alot rawer than people are suggesting. I’ve got Wiseman here. Both have developing perimeter games but Wiseman is taller, longer, bigger, stronger and more athletic. No brainer to me.

I’d have Wiseman and Anthony Edwards nearly tied at the top of not for Wiseman’s biggest weakness: being a center. It’s more valuable when your best guy gets to handle the ball and you don’t see centers taking the ball down the court.

Yes, Jokic is bringing centers closer to that, but what center is going to effect the game like Jimmy Butler bringing the ball down the court, LeBron James, James Harden, Giannis, etc.

Wiseman’s jumper from midrange looks great, even if he didn’t use it in college. He can hit 3’a too. There is a star quality, but I do agree Okongwo is exactly perfect for today’s NBA. I see him drafted between 4 and 6. I really like him around the rim.
