 Always liked the kid’s game as he is a true PG with some scoring ability.  Was drafted and stashed in Europe by the Jazz and just signed a multi-year contract to finally play in the NBA.  Utah is making some really good personnel moves this summer and I think NWG has a chance to be the backup to Conley.  Seems like he’s had a chance to improve his 3 point shot in Europe as he hit at a 49% clip with KK Partizand and 39% with Olympiacos.  I really hope he wins the back-up job and pushes Exum to a SG role.

 He’s a system type of PG and he’s in the right system in Utah to floorish.

Love to hear this. I already consider Dante more of a 2 guard than a point. But I don’t if I’d put NWG ahead of Mudiay. Here is what I have for the Jazz’s depth chart (I did not put in Sefolosha because he’s a FA and I haven’t heard if he’s coming back for another year, and I kind of doubt he will. O’Neal is included twice because he his very versatile and I know the Jazz will still use a lot of switching because that is what their offense is built on. Bogdanovic, Ingles, Mitchell, Exum, and Oni will probably also be played at different positions a lot)

• Center- Gobert, Davis, Bradley, Udoh
• PF- Bogdanovic, Green, Niang
• SF- Ingles, O’Neal, Oni
• SG- Mitchell, O’Neal, Exum
• PG- Conley, Mudiay, Williams-Goss
• 2-way Contracts-Brantley, and Wright-Foreman

That’s 18 players. NBA rosters are allowed at least 15 players with two maximum players on two-way contracts. Which means that Brantley, Wright- Foreman, Kidd and Howard (who ever those two are, I’m guessing hold overs from their summer league team) will be either all on their G-league team, or one or two of those will be there while the others are on their actual team. You can’t have all 4 of them on the team at the same time, that would be against the rules. 

Summer league is not a fair measure for the regular season or the playoffs, and the Jazz will need a very good roster regardless, one that is battle tested and worthy to stand up against any foe no matter insurmountable they may seem. So I would only put the ones that you trust most on the team. Which is why I only included Oni on the actual team. His versatility, defense and smart instinct b-ball IQ is what the Jazz will surely need. As you probably can tell I wasn’t convinced that their summer league team was good enough to include all four of the players you mentioned. Only one was I thought good enough to be given a guaranteed contract. I’m not convinced with Brantley or Wright-Foreman yet, but I’m willing to give them a chance, this a two way contract for each. And I’m certainly not convinced with Kidd or Howard. Their summer league team sucked. 2-3 and losing in a consolation game to Charlotte who at the time had a worse record than the Jazz did? C’mon, surely you don’t think all 4 players can be on the roster at the same time!?!? (I was more impressed with Sharma than Kidd or Howard)

 Yes that is 18, but is their current roster at moment, one player will have to be cut to get to the 15 number.  Niang (2 years), O’Neale (1 year), Howard (3 years), Kidd (3 years), and Oni (3 years)  most likely to be cut since they all have $0 guarenteed this year.  Brantley and Wright-Foreman are holding the two way spots.

 Did he really have a stand out season playing Greece ? I think he should consider himself very lucky, he was drafted by Utah a couple of seasons ago and just got a call up now.

Nick Calathes is a 3 time MVP, DeShaun Thomas, Ben Bentil.  Did he out perform these guys ?

I’m sure he does consider himself very lucky. And I hope he will earn all that trust that Dennis Lindsey put in him by deciding to make that callup. He’s probably learned a lot of valuable lessons in Greece and Belgium now is the chance for him to apply those lessons and we will all see how far it gets him.
