sam was a co-winner for sec defensive player of the year. He has recently come out as gay stating he has dealt with his feelings for life knowing he was attracted to men since he was young and didn’t want to come to conclusions about who he is until he figured himself out. Now that he is comfortable with accepting who he is, he wants to come out.

NFL is a very masculine testosterone driven sport. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Personally im happy to see a gay man come out to buck the trend. We should not show bias against homosexuals. Equality for all regardless of whether or not we agree with it.

I know football is fairly conservative in matters like this, but I hope it doesn’t affect his draft stock in any way.

I really respect him coming out between the season and the draft. Not only did he keep his team away from the controversy swarm that would have been a distraction midseason, but he’s giving GMs full disclosure before anybody has to commit to him. That takes a lot of courage. I’m really hoping that it doesn’t blow up in his face.
