WoW! did you guys watch Hasheem hit all those 16 footers on the move? Such a quiet follow through on that shot. Perhaps he can get away with not having too many post moves or good upper body strength. At 7’2″(I’m doubting that’s he’s actually 7’3″), that shot is unblockable as you can see that his release is well above his head. He just shot up my mock to #2. Thoughts?

WälseParticipantdont mean to be completely negative, but guys are going to look tremendous in individual workouts. he will never take that shot in a game. they’re just going to make it a point to show NBA GM’s that he’s got decent touch. don’t read too much into this. guys like Kwame Brown and Dwight Howard showed touch from that range in individual workouts. that said, i like Thabeet and i hope he has a successful career.

I’m sure most people understand that in individual workouts, most players are going to look good. However, Thabeet showed a side of him on offense that not too many people could have predicted having watched him play for the Huskies. I don’t know if I’ve become too enamored, but I’m sure the majority of people following college ball didn’t think he could move that fluidly with the ball in his hands on offense. And with regards to Howard and Brown, those guys are NOT 7’2″ + with a standing reach that I’ve read somewhere is in the 9’8″ to 9’9″ neighborhood. Oh, by the way, Howard only measured to be 9’4″. Normal sized guys are expected to shoot the ball a little. But this guy… I think I’m gonna call it right now and say that Thabeet will be just as, if not more advanced offensively at each year than Dwight Howard in the same respective year. I know I’m gonna get eaten alive on this one, but you guys must remember how terrible Howard was offensively when he actually posted up or took a shot during his first 2 years. I’m not saying that he’ll be as good as Dwight in each of those years. No no no…. the skill level of their offensive repertoires will be similar is all I’m saying…..Wow, SELF, way to start controversy with a potential of stoning to death :p

sheltwon3ParticipantI hear what you are saying man but I still think that he is too small and if he can bulk up then I may change my mind. I never cared to much if he could shoot jumpers or not because it is not likely gonna be something he does in many games. Dalembert can hit perimeter shots too. I see Thabeet as Dalembert and hopefully he doesn’t take as long to be a quality big. His movements and improve shot that he will do well to go to OKC at the 4 spot unless they move up. I still think he would be best for their team unless they get Griffin. I can’t wait to find out the draft order.

eprizzle14ParticipantThabeet will be at least a Biedrins. I think he could be a lesser agilitied Chandler with potentially more touch, whatever that is. He can protect the rim and that’s valuable but my only question is, can he defend the pick and roll?

JNixonParticipantAnd thanks 4 FINALLY being the only person to bring that up…he was horrible in pick and roll defense in college and since the NBA is a majority pick and roll league, he wont be as great a defender as some think.

Stanford hoopsParticipantlike someone said its individual workouts..most players look ghreat in them with a good jump shot esspecially when you dont have the pressure of a game situation or having any defense on you so dont read much into it

bujubantonParticipantI can’t wait until pre-draft camp going on may 27th to 31st then all the physical unknowns will be known, height, weight, body fat, and combine athletic ability. Also, tomorrow is ping pong day, I really want the Knicks to get the number 1 pick, but that is highly unlikely. Thabeet will have Dikembe Mutombo type career which isn’t bad, Harden will be a poor mans Brandon Roy, and Blake Griffin has Karl Malone career type potential. His work ethic is unbelievable he’s willing to put in the time to be the best, the only thing I need to know is his wingspan and standing reach to come to final conclusion about him before the coming draft.
