So NBA announced today the NBA Lottery won’t be until August 25th and the draft has been pushed to October 15th. Will be interesting if the offseason is really short or if season will not start until Feb. I thought they would want season over by mid August so they could restart around Christmas I am surprised finals will last until October.

Just saw tentative Dec 1st start date so that answers the question of short offseason.

The late draft makes it somewhat unlikely a decent number of the international prospects will be in a position to play in the NBA in 2020-21. The European basketball season will still start in October. Now, Killian Hayes is skipping the Bundesliga Basketball playoffs (starts Saturday if ESPN can get Korean baseball and Costa Rican soccer why not time for Greg Monroe, Peyton Siva, Jordan Crawford, and Rickey Paulding?) and LaMelo has been back in the US for some time, so it isn’t all of them but a decent number of guys won’t buy themselves out of a contract prior to the draft on the hope of being taken in the first and get a guaranteed contract. Most of these guys haven’t played at a high level to have the kind of money to speculate. It might make them more appealing given that a team in the back half of the first round for a cap-strapped team who can keep them off the payroll in a tight year, and fill in with a league minimum vet who will be better equipped to contribute.

That is true. Someone like Maledon, Pokuseveski, and Bolamro could be losers in this situation. Though I think all of them will go in the first round, we just don’t know. That’s a short offseason tho. I am expecting a lot of injuries next season due to a short offseason to recover. Because of that, I could see some teams that were completely out of it this season, might be able to make a good run at it next sesason, because they would be healthier. Atlanta, Chicago, and Minnesota come to mind if they can stay healthy.

Short offseason, but not really the players just did get 3.5 months off during the season. So if you count that with month after playoffs they still had 4 months off just not consecutive. Its like the guys who play in the Olympics or Fiba stuff during the summer.

Season ends October 12th and begins November 10th? That just seems like a bad idea.

I saw à report online tonight don’t know if it true or not. But it said both KD & Kyrie plan to play when the season restarts in July.

Intreresting development. Honestly if KD comes back the Durant we know Nets should be considered legitimate threats to beat anybody except Toronto lol.

There is going to be an imperfect plan no matter how they do it. The longer the period between 19-20 and 20-21, the harder it is on the teams and players who will be without basketball since March. Given that those teams are taking the greatest loss in the restart, it would make sense that the league is trying to help them out to start 20-21.
