mikeyvthedonParticipantHello NBADraft.net! This is long time poster and site contributor Mikey V. I wrote articles, updated profiles, wrote scouting reports and also was a frequent message board contributor. Wanted to let you all know that I started a new podcast with my brother called “Viseland”, where he and I will mostly be focused on basketball. We started with the “10 Worst NBA All-Stars of All-Time”, followed it up with the “Eastern Conference All-Time Starting 5’s” and just released our “Western Conference All-Time Starting 5’s”.
If any of you guys want to follow my podcast, like, subscribe, share or comment, would be greatly appreciative. The forum certainly looks much different than it used to, but think there are still familiar faces around. Plus, if you respond on here, or on YouTube, would be happy to get back to you. Hoping people are doing as well as possible and have always appreciated this message board and the Draftnet community.

Also available on Apple or Spotify! Incredibly appreciative for any support, feel free to follow either @Viseland or @NBADraftMikeyV on Twitter as well.

RUDEBOY-Participantque paso…comas estas?
always good to see the old heads return to this site……
I remember earlier in the college basketball season u had Cole Anthony as number 1….wondering how feel about his draft status now? I saw some mocks have him in late teens and 20s… I still think he’s a lottery pick…..
I think people r sleeping on Patrick Williams,Nico Mannion & Cassius Stanley….. And overhyping Toppin ,Vassell & Okoro…..0 -

mikeyvthedonParticipantI did have Cole Anthony #1 to start the year, have definitely moved him down since then, but agree he is still a lottery pick. Felt that based on his EYBL play and overall dominance amongst his class, strong play in FIBA that he would do better at North Carolina. Still a believer in his pull-up game, ability to create his own offense, think the shooting will come along and think he can be at least a passable defender. Not to mention he obviously has a good nose for the ball. The people that tend to rank him lower harp on his poor finishing around the basket (it was definitely bad, even given North Carolina’s lack of spacing), erratic decision making and those both being the case even with his being older for class. Still believe enough in him to have him top 10.
Patrick Williams I agree is a sleeper, not quite as high on Nico or Cassius Stanley. Nico also REALLY struggled around the basket, though he at least brings a nice bit of utility off ball. He is not a terrible defender, but have to wonder how he does with NBA physicality and his lack of length. Cassius is an incredible open floor athlete, but wonder about his feel for the game, not to mention his lack of length. I go back to his HS coach getting on him more than anybody on the team, even with his being legit 19 years old at the time. He is also 9 months older than Cole, so, something to consider as well, though he had some nice moments for Duke.
Toppin was someone who I felt popped off the screen when I saw him as a freshman and was tremendous this season, but agree he is a tad overhyped. He is basically a senior who is classified as a sophomore and even with his being the NCAA player of the year and having his high level vertical pop, he struggles laterally and with general defensive awareness. Not sure who he defends at the NBA level consistently, definitely see him as a straight up big man. But some of his ability on offense make him worth a top half of the draft pick, just do not like him going top 5.
Vassell and Okoro are both two wings I really like in this draft, why do you feel they are overhyped? Vassell’s team defense and flashes on offense seem to give him projectable value. His body is not amazing, but has positional size and should improve as a shooter, plus was already good in that facet. Okoro I think being a top 5 pick is overblown, but his individual defensive versatility is very impressive, very smart passer and has shown he can finish close to the hoop. Have heard great things about his work ethic and seeing him swallow up Jaden McDaniels at Hoop Summit practice scrimmage and dunk on Kylor Kelley were both highlights that made his season at Auburn seem much less surprising than it was. Guess “overhyped” is all in perspective of what the hype is set at.
Will be eventually having Draft content on the podcast/YouTube. Was nice to see people hyping up Payton Pritchard earlier, went to a lot of Oregon games this year and he was fantastic. Still not sure he is much beyond a back-up, but think he could at least give some good minutes and know his work ethic is outstanding. The amount of games he saved this season was something to behold. Got to witness OT games against Arizona, Washington (def the sweetest, road game in Seattle) and USC. Plus watching him steamroll Zavier Simpson was a thing of beauty. For those who wonder what the jersey is behind me in the video, it is a signed Chris Boucher practice jersey.
