OhCanada-ParticipantSo we have 5 positions available in this years draft and I have the draft date and time set for Saturday, 28th, 4pm. Draft time is flexible but we will work off of that.
Head to Head each category wins, 9 categories to avoid tiebreakers in playoffs, 9th category is 3p% the rest is standard, 4 weekly acquisitions, 20 teams so be ready for a deep draft.
League is open.
Please check in either here or the ESPN message board.

ChrispyParticipantMy internet comes and goes. Where I live I am lucky to see 1 game a week…if possible. You all are welcome to visit, because we love basketball here, its just hard to find it on TV!!

OhCanada-ParticipantYour more than welcome to pick up a team and we can have one of the League Managers co-manage the team for you. In the event that you arent able to set your lineups, or one of your players gets injured and needs to be put on injury reserve and replaced DMO or Cynthia would be able to help you out. They did this last year and it worked out perfectly fine.
As for the draft ESPN has a very competent offline predraft rankings which would allow your team to be selected very specifically whether or not you would be present for the actual draft.

OhCanada-ParticipantOh sorry about that. 4pm Eastern Im not sure why I left that out. Its flexible though I just wanted to put a time there to give everyone a time to be preparing for.

Andrew1984ParticipantI won’t be available for the live draft, but I’ve edited my rankings, and will be practicing temperance in anticipation of being enraged over who "the computer" took for me.

r377ParticipantI usually play yahoo.
Im having heaps of probs with ESPN, i can only move draft players up the page 10 spots, then asked to click boxes.
They haven’t even tried (unless a future draft update) Carmelo and a stack of late first round rookies over patty mills, wright etc.
Jeremly lin is in china. Going to take me ages to set this draft up.
Also could we move the draft back and hour or two ? if its 4pm eastern USA that is about 5am my time
thanks

CynthiaParticipantThe order is fairly accurate, it’s based on how they ranked last year and due to age they add in projected progression or degression. So older dudes like Patty Mills are going to be expected to take a dip in production. Obviously rookies are a wild card, that’s up to you if you want to take that chance. However it is bad at removing players that retire or move to a different league like Lin.
Other than those factors like I said it’s pretty accurate. You may perceive a player as better than another in the real world but in the fantasy world they’re not. For example one player scores 12 ppg but does pretty much nothing else, that scoring is still valuable in the real world but in fantasy he’s garbage and worse than a player who scores 2ppg but also has 1rpg, 1apg, 1 spg, 1 bpg and has better shooting percentages. Obviously the second player sounds like a bottom of the bench guy, but he’s still better than the 12ppg as far as how the fantasy algorithm works.
I’ve never played Yahoo so their algorithm may be completely different, so it’s understandable if this one seems odd. We play 9 categories, so it’s best to get players who can stuff the stat sheet than someone like the 12ppg guy who only fills 1 or 2 categories and is a 0 on everything else. Unless you want a team of specialists that focus on 1-2 of each category, that’s up to you, everyone has a different strat.

r377Participantsomeone else can answer better with espn
but with yahoo i think its 2 mins then last few rounds are 1 minute
20 teams i think 16 or so players ? thats 300 mins or 5 hours. Maybe with this draft it would have to be quicker selections ? will prob be a few auto selects aswell to speed it up

OhCanada-ParticipantHaha yeah your over analyzing it just a bit. The live draft usually takes 2 hours maybe a bit more. Its 60 second picks, 20 teams, 13 players a team, 260 players. Usually about 5 teams predraft which goes to auto, another few dont even show and are inactive which goes to auto (happens all the time and impossible to tell who does this), and the people who do show arent going to drain the clock just for the sake of it. We all usually have a good idea of who were picking.
The 1st round takes 20 minutes no matter what. Then it speeds up and is about 5-10 minutes a round at the longest.

CynthiaParticipantI’m probably about the only one who uses the whole minute because I’m indecisive AF. Most people pick within about 15 seconds.
It probably is about 2 hours but it honestly doesn’t feel like more than an hour, to me at least.
Also a trend I’ve noticed is after the first 5 or 6 rounds, once the more starting level of players are gone, some people leave and let it auto the rest. So it usually speeds up really fast near the end. There’s only like 5 of us that usually stay through the whole thing. Which is unfortunate, but it is what it is.

CynthiaParticipantCan you rejoin, or is it full? I didn’t remove you, but I didn’t know that’s who you were, I honestly thought Downtown was a random and Canada probably did too, perhaps why he removed.

r377ParticipantDo multi positions become easier to obtain as the season goes on ?
Think ive only got 2 or 3 with more than 1 position. Checking on yahoo quite a few of mine would have multi positions…
So will some players earn a second position as the season goes on with ESPN ?

CynthiaParticipantI’ve seen a few gain or lose positions during the course of the year but it’s very seldom.

OhCanada-ParticipantDoncic had SG, PF last year. I think Simmons had PG and SF or PG, PF maybe even all three.
