To be fair, because of the “free” year the NCAA allowed players for the covid year, many seniors had to declare as well. Also, some of the guys have already announced where they are transferring to, so it is probably just a matter of time before they officially pull out.

John Butler entered without publicly announcing it, so it will be interesting to see if he is fully in or not. He is someone who could easily develop into a lottery pick with a big year. At the moment, however, he seems like Bol Bol where the body makes developing the player at the NBA level difficult.

Pete Nance will be interesting as he has NBA pedigree through his father and brother, good length and athleticism, was already a plus passer and mover, and quietly learned to shoot it to the tune of 45% from three on 93 attempts.

I was a little surprised to see Max Abmas declare, but I guess players can enter and pull out twice. As a small guard, I can see how transferring to a major program could possibly help him. Entering now as a small guard from a small school, it is hard to gain traction.

John Butler I thought was returning to college but if he declares I think he goes in the first round. Teams with multiple picks could take a calculated gamble on him and play off teams would see him as a low risk high upside project.

Yeah I don’t think he gets past the Timberwolves. They have been very high on players with great length that can guard multiple positions and you add in his floor spacing and its pretty much the ideal prospect to put around KAT and Ant.

Yep if Houston don’t take a frontcourter with their top pick then Butler in the mix at 17 would make sense too.

    So Leonard Miller didn’t enter?

Yeah I don’t know what the deal is there. He said he declared for the draft so did he get rejected? If so will he appeal?

I noticed Kai Sotto, Ariel Hukporti and Yaon Makoundou aren’t on early enry list. Thats surprising to me not sure what they are waiting for. Hukporti is actually in a very good situation where he is being groomed slowly in a winning enviroment so he’s a guy to watch out for if he can stay out of foul trouble and be more responsible defensively. Sotto will have to find a new place to play basketball because its not working for him in Adelaide and Makoundou played well this year so I don’t know why he didn’t enter.

Lookout for “Zvonimir Ivisic”. He should get drafted if he keeps his name in and could find himself as this years late riser on mock boards. 7’3, quick feet, can shoot, will be 18 on draft day. Could rise from this spot.

Luke Travers is another guy that will probably get drafted that media outlets haven’t really mentioned. He’s been developing in the NBL for a few years now and has a polished game that will should translate immediately in the NBA. Especially when you factor in how different the NBL game is ‘smaller courts, less minutes, tighter rotations’ his game should really open up in the NBA. He badly needs to improve his 3pt shot. *fun fact. The NBL still considers Travers a rookie despite this being his third year in the league and second year being a roatation player. In the NBL if you are a “developing player” you are still a rookie.

Yoan Makoundo is automatically in as a result of him being born in 2000. I’m not certain about Kai Sotto. I don’t think he automatically qualified because under the provision that college players are automatically in the year following should they leave college to play professionally abroad. Sotto has bounced around before going to Australia, but I’m not sure.

Jeremy Woo: Draft note: Per sources, as of tonight the NBA has officially ruled Canadian HS prospect Leonard Miller eligible for the 2022 draft. Miller was not initially on the early entry list due to paperwork issues, leading to some minor confusion amongst teams, but he’s good to go. 3 hours ago – via Twitter JeremyWoo

The only thing holding him back this year is he has no name recognition quite yet compared to most other prospects. He might end up waiting a year ultimately. We’ll see. Potential steal of the draft if a team gets a lot out of him.

Im interested to see how his measurements. I’ve seen people say he is 6’10 with a 7’3 wingspan. If thats the case he could go lottery… Thats extremely rare.

This draft has alot of those 6’8ish 7’0ish wingspan guys. If you look through the NBA stats top 50 three point shooters this year there are not many players that tall and long. I think those guys will get taken early. Smith, Miller, Houstan, Baldwin, Walker, Juzang, Hall. That prototype is gonna be sought after. Juzang is extremely slept on, he measured 6’7 with a 6’11 wingspan and played for a very good defensive team.

I heard Leonard has a 9 ft standing reach – that should be lottery if it’s the case… that’s basically comparable to Isaiah Jackson. I like Juzang too, but don’t know if he will stick. He needs the ball in his hands a lot.
