My mock is in. Neg away.

I haven’t written explanations on why I’ve made the decision to place each player where I have, I just think the picks are all good fits for the teams listed or are the BPA.

When doing this, I always wonder whether others are trying to pick the actual draft order, list who you think each team should draft or whether you make your selections based on your rank of how good you’ll think each player will be in the NBA.

For the record, there’s a few trades that wouldn’t surprise me, such as a Pelicans-Celtics-Lakers three way, Atlanta moving up in a package, Thunder trading 21 or the Celtics maybe packaging their picks.

In this mock, I’ve allowed for Atlanta trading 8 & 10 to Cleveland for 5. Whether the trade happens or not, I think the picks still make sense – Culver at 5, Reddish at 8 and Bol at 10.

I’m not going to change this now unless there is a very solid piece of news, so I know there’s a few surprises, so I’lll mention quickly –

– Tacko Fall at 30 is a good of a risk as any and he fits the Bucks policy of drafting the longest guy they can find.

– Jalen Lecque decided to stay in quite early, so I think there’s a promise

– Herro and Jerome both shot the lights out in Boston workouts so I like those picks

– I think this draft will be weak like Giannis’s draft, but there will be strong contributors found all the way to the end of the second round

– Jogela is an international who elected to stay in, he’s showing as ineligible and I couldn’t add him but I think he must have a second round promise

The only way I would have negged you is if you put Zion at 3 to the Knicks… I don’t think you’ve got anything too outlandish. I don’t see Alexander-Walker dropping as far as you’ve got him, but that’s the only thing that really stands out on first glance.

I like the picks you have for Detroit (first thing I look for in mocks lol). I’ve liked Johnson at 15 for a while.

 Bucks GM is no longer John Hammond, you know the guy that loves to draft length. he’s with the Magic now. Anyways, my only criticism is Goga Bitadze falling to 29. BTW, I do hope Miami drafts Sekou. They have to take a gamble here.

 I have Goga low, too.  I kinda don’t see it with him.  Not sure what my actual draft spot will be for him but he is not in my top 15.

LOVE Jalen Lecque at 23 for the Jazz.  Can’t believe he is so low on most boards.

He is a freakish athlete with good size (and looks like he can even fill out more) with a 6’9 wingspan.  Can pass and get to the rim.  Not a shooter but if he could shoot then he would be a top 5 pick.

Tacko Fall at 30 sounds about right.  The guy is a freak.  I think he is the real deal, even if he can only play a "load management career" around 15 minutes a night.  If he can bump that up to around 25 minutes a night then I think he is a mid-first round pick.  Right now, the only center I like more than Tacko Fall is Nic Claxton.  

I can also see Bol Bol at 10.  Looks like a decent spot for him.  Might have more draft upside but I like the depth at the top of the draft (or, at least I like the wild card picks I have higher).  I don’t see Bol Bol dropping too far, but he can obviously go anywhere from 10 to 20.  

Herro is a mid-first guy.  That is about all I can narrow it down to.  

Late first round to mid-2nd round will be totally random.

I would probably put Jontay Porter around 56 too.  He might even have more value as a red shirt guy — or just him him on a two-way contract for a couple of years.  So, in Moneyball terms you are getting a good deal.

I believe Lecque has a promise too, but it’s not to the Jazz at 23. I am a Jazz fan, I know for a fact they do not give out promises. The draft is too hard to predict and in most cases the jazz aren’t able to hand out promises because they don’t know who the best available is until draft day. Most teams keep these things close to the best. I think if Lecque has a promise it’s in round 2. Besides it’s just not in the nature of the Jazz to hand out promises. I’d rather see the Jazz draft a SF or a stretch 4. Yes, PG is a need but they can always move DMitch to point which should work out better for him because he won’t have constantly shoot over taller defenders. 

I don’t try and predict trades until we get closer to draft day, like a day or day of. If I think a may happen, I just BPA and let the chips fall where they may. There is so much uncertainty with draft day trades that it’s just too hard to predict for especially this early. I’ll wait until about a day before the draft or day of before I start about worrying about possible trades. Sometimes even the day of or a day before the draft is too early.

Supposedly this guy is moving up and might even have a promise in the lottery/mid-first but the Jazz might need to take a hard look at Nic Claxton.  I actually think he is a 4.  Although he basically played point center in college.  I think he has some Greek Freak in him.  He is becoming one of my favorite players in the draft (I firmly have him in my top 10).  

He and Rudy Gobert could shut it down inside.  I think Claxton has a TON of upside.  

I was also trying to think of a guard to pair with Donovan Mitchell but I don’t see a ton of value at 23 (at least according to this mock draft).  Kyle Guy or Jeremiah Martin (super late) might be good fits.

 I currently have the Jazz selecting Nic Claxton. I was just disagreeing about Lecque going to the Jazz because I know for a fact there is no promise made there. Claxton is more of a 4, and I agree he would work really well Gobert, help shut down the paint while still being a stretch 4 which is what you need next to Gobert. 

I don’t know if Lecque has a promise. He has a lot of confidence in himself. And while that’s a good thing, he may have a little too much of it. There is a lot to be said about players that stick with the college route and go for 1-4 years, instead opting early for the NBA straight out of high school if they can. A lot of teams think he has a lot less skill then he think he does. But he isn’t the one deciding where he goes. He may have pulled out early from the combine not because he had a promise but because he thinks he’s better than what teams were saying about him. He did say all the right things in interviews, but still skill accounts in workouts too. I still think Lecque will go in the 2nd round. (Probably early 2nd round)

Looks good. Only things are I don’t think Lecque has a first round promise and I think you’ve got Horton-Tucker too low.

 I now understand the only prospects the Wiz have worked out with view of picking at 9 are Sekou Doumbouya and Keldon Johnson. Anyone else hear this? I see they looked at a lot of potential 2nd rounders.
