Theres gonna be some very good picks made in that 15-30 range this year. As of now once you get outside of the lottery and pas Orlando (15th) and Brooklyn (16th) you have some very good teams with solid structure in place which will allow a rookie to easily recognize his role and plug into a system. The players that are projected to fall into that position are also very talented. Ths draft maybe an anomaly where the back end of the 1st round ends up just as good as the 1st half.

Paul Reed looks like he will immediately be a defensive force in the NBA and is currently mocked 28th on the site. He is a little bit small at a reported 6’9 210 but if he lands on a smallball team like Houston or Toronto he will be a real problem.

Reggie Perry has a great combination of strength, skill and athleticism and at his size 6’10 250 he should make teams want to pick him to play Center because he will be able to switch onto smaller players while still being able to defend the post. What is going to separate him from the pack is his ability to dribble.

Ayo Dosunmu has always been a high potential sleeper guy but towards the end of conference play he has emerged as an impact productive player for Illinois. He has great size and length for a combo guard and is an excellent athlete. Very quick. Reminds me of Dejounte Murray.

Malachi Flynn’s ability to create his own shot reminds me so much of Van Vleet its actually kind of weird. He is a bit bigger and has a bit less playmaking to his game but scores just like him and teams will want to add that. Lights out sharpshooter.

Theres more players too like Aaron Nesmith, Cassius Stanley and staging.nbadraft.net has Precious Achiuwa at 19 but I see him as a lottery pick so I didnt even mention him. Landers Nolley has great size and shooting abillity as well. Its just loaded the back end of the 1st round. Not to mention the outstanding Seniors like Myles Powell, Mamadi, Diakite, Tres Trinkle and Peyton Pritchard.

I think Ayo has huge upside. I think he could be a Kyrie Irving type player.
I am an SDSU alum and follow them and I think Malachi should stay in school. If he came out he would go mid 2nd to undrafted I think, as of now I don’t see him as an NBA guy, but more of a Gleague/overseas player.

I think he should go to Marquette for a year or take the overseas route like Hampton or Ball did this year and play in the Australian league. He has alot of potential but his game just isnt very polished right now and in order to succeed at this point he would have to get drafted by a team that has a good development system and theres just way too many teams that “think” they have a good development system. I wouldnt mind Toronto picking him up with a late 1st though if he did enter as long as one of those bigs like Perry, Reed, Carey, Achiuwa, Oturu etc. arent available which I dont think they will be.

He has great size and length at PG 6’5 7’foot wingspan but his perimeter shooting is very inconsistent and his free throw shooting needs alot of work. Right now he reminds me of a better playmaking Archie Goodwin. But he also will show you flashes of Victor Oladipo and Dwayne Wade from time to time. He would be a bigtime prospect in the 2021 draft though.

Reed appears as though he has grown while in college. He has been listed at 6′ 9″ and 210-220 lbs since his freshman year. Some schools actually weight and measure guys. Many don’t. Sometimes it is an assistant coach putting in a number, and sometimes it is just someone in the sports information office guessing. Like a number of the 4s and 5s in this draft class, it will be good to get an accurate measurement of him. He has had a good year, and showed a good amount of skill development, but needs to measure out as a suitable 4 or 5 because he is not skilled enough to make it if he is undersized.

I would throw in Saddiq Bey, and he might rise into the lottery as the draft class seems light on wings. Robert Woodard is another possibility. Jordan Nwora just finished an ACC conference slate where his team went 15-5, he was 5th in points, 6th in rebounding, 2nd in 3-point percentage, 2nd in 3-pointers made, and in-game analysts have called his season disappointing. I just don’t get why people are down on him.

Im also down on Nwora. Hes had quite a few games where he just didnt show up at all, or he didnt show up when his team needed him the most. And its just the way he goes about it, he sort of just disappears. Last game he played it happened again, didnt score in the last 8 minutes vs. Virginia.

That being said he can still really shoot the ball and has decent size for a small forward. Could find a spot in a rotation but I’m leaning towards niche role player. Reminds me of Georges Niang.

Nwora reminds me of Cameron Johnson from last years draft. I think he goes in the late 1st-early 2nd.

Agree with you completely on back half of the draft. Paul Reed though has A LOT of work to do if he’s gonna be productive in NBA. As someone who goes to and watches a lot of DePaul games, I don’t like him as an NBA player. I’d like to see what he could do with one more year but that’s not gonna happen.

I’m not as high on Reed either. I do like Nwora tho, and I think he could be a rotational piece on a good team and he does remind me of Cam Johnson. I also think Aaron Nesmith can be a starter on a good team as well. Another guy I really like is Devin Vassell. I think he can be a pretty good sixth man or low end starter on a good team.

    Low end sleeper: Sam Merrill.

Tyrese Maxey, Devon Dotson, Udoka Azubuike, CJ Elleby, Ashton Hagans…..there’s def a lot of value there at the end of the first or start of the second.

My low end sleeper of this draft that I compare to Malcolm Brogdon is Desmond Bane outta TCU. Likely a mid-late 2nd rounder.
