Usually you only get one fall guy. Walton getting fired has been the most well known, expected coaching changes in basketball. LeBron was just saying how Luke did the best he could with what he was given. He said that yesterday. He obviously knew this was coming. I took these things to mean Walton stays. But maybe you heard a newer report than I did.

 Magic finally figured it out! Really happy for him haha. No reason for you to be the Lakers mascot. Everyones favourite when times are good and most hated when times are bad. Pelinka’s the GM hes the friendly face. Bad deal.

 Magic said the same thing when he resigned after his 2 seconds  as Lakers coach ‘that he wasn’t having fun’. Dude seems to have a history of abandoning ship when things r going south. He brought in half the current roster and hired Pelinka. The guy he failed to mention during his press conference. Could it be Pelinka who he was referring to when he said there was backstabbing within the organization?

 I was thinking the same thing about Magic’s time with coaching. He wouldn’t be the first all time great player who can’t handle being part of an NBA franchise when he’s not playing. Magic clearly can handle pressure with the number of businesses he owns along with being a part owner of the Dodgers. I don’t imagine we will ever see Magic having any formal role in the NBA again. He seemed to really struggle with the idea of tampering as well. Better to leave too early then get fired or quitely be asked to step down. When it comes to the NBA, Magic just wants to have fun. Now he can work with whoever he wants in the NBA and talk about anyone he wants.

Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka have to be thinking wtf right now though.

That press conference was  awful. Rambling, telling stuff that didn’t need to be said in the media. The same level of incompetence he showed while on the job, he showed on his way out.

I like Jesse Buss. He really does a great job with scouting. As a good judge of talent, he might be a good GM.

 I wouldn’t say Magic is a coward. There were some bad decisions personnel wise, but I think he’s always tried to appease everybody. Media pressure certainly played a role in this one, but he still brought LeBron to LA. That’s the best move an executive can make.

Jesse buss sounds like a good prospect. Magic let 2 top 10 picks get away for nothing (randle, and Russell), drafted the sideshow Alonzo Ball. He traded Jordan clarkson, Larry nance, Mikallyiuk, and zubac for nothing. You can’t fire Magic Johnson. He’s Magic Johnson. But we all knew teams were refusing to take Lakers calls. You can’t run a team, be a president, or a GM when the rest of the league is tired of your tampering. He had to go. They couldn’t fire him. 

Instead, a resignation (read between the lines: firing). He pretends Jeanie Buss isn’t in the loop. She doesn’t show up to the stadium. Convenient. 

 They leak that Magic and Pelinka met with LeBron and Rich Paul the other day and that he made no mention of it. Right. Let’s be real: that meeting was to tell LeBron that Magic (and maybe Pelinka) was out. 

Interesting that Magic mentioned backstabbers. Rich Paul? There were so many stories about how everyone wanted Walton gone. Suddenly, this month, the media focused on the front office. I think Rich Paul ran some PR games on Magic. Maybe. Fact is: the formula kinda worked. Lakers were 23-8 in games where James, Ball, Kuzma, and Ingram played. That’s a top team. But the overall record means someone has to be fired. Otherwise, who’s to blame? James? We can’t have that. 

Honestly, I love Magic. But this was the best firing of the year.

This was overdue. Magic did a terrible job. The coaching staff should be next.

Don’t laugh at mentioning Lebron’s name as a replacement. It may just be he has a friend put in as a puppet then he transitions to the role. James Jones may suddenly pop up there. Bosh? I don’t know who is seriously in line for it, but if they aren’t contending next year, it’s a big failure because I think Lebron will start to be on the slide after that. You’d have to start looking at him being the second banana from 2020-2021 if they are to seriously contend.

 Look. I respect the fact that he’s stepping down because he feels he wasn’t cut out for the job. I was never convinced at all he was either. But the way he did it is just embarrassing, through the media without telling Jeannie buss first or anyone else in the organization from what it sounds like. If you want to quit, quit, but man up and do it the right way. This puts the organization in a tough spot going into a critical summer. Honestly, though, it may be for the best in the long run. 

The lakers should have brought in jerry West when they had the chance a couple years ago, but that ship has likely sailed now. I wouldn’t mind seeing someone like David griffin get a shot there, as he knows how to build a team around lebron (something magic clearly never figured out).

 Magic was probably let go… I think they want to keep Luke(Jeannie especially) and they let him go out on his terms before he was pushed due to disagreements.. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if two things happened:

David Griffin was hired(Lebrons old GM) as he appease lebron a little…

That Pelinka also is let go as no one is apparently willing to deal with him…

Personally I would either go Full youth(let Lebron chose his team and trade him) or Full vet mode as long as lebron can recruit the right pieces say a Kyrie and one more top tier level player via trade or F.A..

If Iriving is brought in though I hope they do Lonzo a solid and trade him to either the Suns or the Bulls(could be a nice fit on both squads). For either a high pick(suns) or a young talent(Kris Dunn) + a reasonable pick(top 10).

Does the GM look to make the trades and the Team President oversees, signs them off. Was one encroaching on the other one’s space. Throw in Jeanie Buss, Luke Walton and LBJ and you have a lot of different parts and egos.

The Lakers need to get things sorted fairly quickly with the draft work outs coming up especially if the change the coaching line up,

We joke about LBJ being President of Basketball Operations but MJ did it. Also lets say Rob does stay on and brought Kobe in as coach then Kobe and LBJ together would be interesting?
