hopefully he’s working on that jumper.  That’s one of the main things holding him back from being a star…

The deal bringing in Steve Nash to Los Angeles was legal this offseason, but would not be available to the Lakers next summer.

“As soon as the season was over, [Thibodeau] just had me in here with him, and we just worked out almost every day, just trying to get ready for the USA,” Gibson said of his preparation for the 2012 USA Men’s Select Team. “I wanted to make a good impression for the USA camp, and he came down and watched every practice. I did a good job, got good feedback, and I feel positive about it.

For those not familiar with his background, White suffers from severe anxiety disorder. White, to his credit, has been extremely forthcoming about his illness (he even allowed a fascinating inside look into the gift and the curse that was the day he got drafted in to the NBA), which has obviously impacted all facets of his life, including traveling to and from games by plane while at Iowa State.

White’s anxiety has been described as some kind of “character flaw;” that other teams were too smart to invest a first-round pick in someone as damaged and defective as White.

On Tuesday, White spoke with FOX 26 Sports in Houston and explained: “We are trying to figure out a plan for me to be healthy and successful long-term,” White said. “It’s not really anything that’s going on right now. It’s more of trying to take a pro-active approach and trying to put together a solid plan.”

The distinction with “Rondo is our leader,” though, is that they are not only willing to listen to him, they are willing to accept that what he’s saying is not some half-cocked guess. If Rondo pulls Garnett and Pierce aside and says “I see this. If you go here, you go there, and do these things, we’re getting a basket,” they nod and say OK rather than ask “are you sure?”gsfgew23232

And this is what it all boils down to, really. It is not about the team saluting Rondo as he walks in the door, falling in line for inspection, and waiting for his inspirational words of wisdom. It is about trust. At 26 years old, Rondo has earned the unequivocal trust of his Hall of Fame teammates. They trust him to see things, say things, and tell them things that will lead to the team’s ultimate success. For Garnett and Pierce, the pressure is off. ghj78io78

But it does mark another step along the way to a more complete, more mature player. Perhaps Rondo’s career is a bit like running up a big sand dune. Every stride brings progress, and then a little slide. The key, though, is to keep going, and realize that it is a lot of hard work and a bit of frustration to get to where you need to be.mvhmyj7657

Griffin went on to say that the existence of the rule is good in theory, but he doubts it will make a difference on the court: “It’s not going to win or lose games for anybody… But now you’re telling me if it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals and a guy has a chance to make a play he’s going to be like, ‘Well, do I want this $10,000 or do I want a championship?’65765

“Right now, we have so much competition at each position. The point guard position, the two, the three, the four – the four I would have to say Andrea (Bargnani) has pretty much got that solidified right now – but the five position and those positions are going to be competitive as far as for minutes.”bsgfsrgsr

“(The rotation is) probably eight to nine (players),” Casey said. “If (the rookies) are not in the rotation, they are going to get a lot of individual work. This year is about winning, getting the five, eight, nine guys on the court that are going to produce a win. We are not going to use games to develop guys like we did last year.”fdaef3223

Coach Mike Brown has insisted he wouldn’t be even slightly concerned if the revamped Los Angeles Lakers went winless in the preseason. After another blowout loss to Utah, nobody seemed worried the Lakers are halfway there.

Brown said he elected to rest Gasol after deciding the four-time All-Star big man looked ”a little fatigued” in recent days. The coach rested Bryant for an exhibition last week, making both moves against the veteran stars’ good-natured objections.ol78i67

Gasol has played extensively in the preseason in the absence of Howard, who still hasn’t debuted for the Lakers midway through the preseason despite participating in every practice. Although the former Orlando center feels no pain in his surgically repaired back, Howard insists he won’t return until he’s completely healthy, but won’t speculate on when it might happen.h4643
