Brown and the Celtics have agreed to a 4yr/$115M rookie extension. No options in the deal.

Boston got him to compromise a little on the dollar amount which gives them slightly more flexibility going forward. Someone definitely would’ve maxed him out next summer if he hit the market.

I don’t think Jaylen Brown is a bad player, and tend to believe he and Tatum will benefit from the changes made in the offseason. Boston may very well be a real contender to win the East. That said, this is a bad contract. It is so bad that I am assuming China will be broadcasting the NBA this year, because it is inexcusable for a team to commit this much money to a guy like Brown when there is a big enough pot of money to greatly alter the cap still up in the air. Not only that, but it pretty much makes sure the Celtics have to offer Tatum the max next summer. They are pretty much guaranteeing that three years from now that Smart, Kemba, Brown, and Tatum will make more than $100 million.

I must have missed something in his 13-4-1 season, especially when he was much better off the bench…

Sad for the celts, 2 years ago(great contracts, youth, cap space, tons of picks)….today(awesome frontcourt, you better hope it will be one of these addition by substraction case)….next year(90+MD for Walker, Brown, Hayward). 

Maybe it was Ainge’s plan, it wasn’t mine, that’s for sure.

Great deal for Jaylen Brown but Danny Ainge doesn’t give out too many bad deals so lets wait and see.

 Aigne’s head. We got to consider if Brown is not signed what kind of distraction is that & how will that effect the team this year & how will that pressure effect Brown  

Boston just came off a season where the team was torn apart by internal strife. The Celtics now have their entire young core locked up. 

Brown & Tatum both had sub-par seasons last year compared to where expectations believed they Should be. Jaylen Brown was more effected than really anyone else b/c Stevens gave Hayward is starting job back & had Brown come off the bench even though Hayward still probably wasn’t ready

Brown now has a new contract & he can focus 100% growing as a player & helping the team w/o worrying about injury or not playing well enuf to earn a contract in the offseason. That’s a lot of outside pressure & stress on a young player 

Is 4 yrs $115 Million too much for Brown has produced so far? Maybe, but Boston is projecting that Brown will grow into the player they believe he can be. Also, had Boston allowed Brown to get to restricted Free Agency some team would have Def offered Brown a bigger deal & Boston would have had to match or let Brown walk as Milwaukee just did w/ Brogdon 

In addition, w/ Brown signed long term he is a very attractive trade piece if the opportunity to acquire a Veteran star in a trade during the season should arise. 

Over the last few years the sports media has really started to hammer young players based on what they do Not do instead of focusing on what they Do well. Is Brown a great scorer who can create his own shot? Of course not. But Brown is a very stable, high character young man both On & Off the court. He’s got real Leadership skills. Brown’s nickname is "Old Man" b/c he’s such a solid citizen. He turns 23 this week, he’s one of the best young 3 & D talents in the League. Brown is a 6’7” elite athlete who gives Boston 15 pts & 5 reb a game, he shoots 36% from 3pt range for his career, he’s Always healthy, he’s fantastic in transition & he plays outstanding perimeter Defense

 I think Ainge is overrated on here by a few users.  He is good but i think maybe too overrated on here…

They have had a stack of draft picks, most are all gone now.  some of his draft picks

2016 – most of us had jamal murray at 3 and not Brown

Most of us had Randle over marcus smart

James young didn’t do much in college, Gary harris fell in that draft, most of us had him higher.

Going for an inter in Noguera, inters in the same draft class – Giannis (went 1 higher), Schroeder & Gobert were available.

Out of the last 20 of so draft picks, the only ones he got right was tatum, rozier and Zizic (later traded)

Brown is a solid player but for a 3rd overall pick he will never be an all star or worth 30mill. $20mill in fine but not $30mill.

** he is another important thing to note **   Tatum has to get a new contract.  Giving Brown $30mill just sets the bar for Tatum, he going to want $35+
