Jayson Tatum, while still only 21 years old has already displayed some unreal ability. He is probably the best young two-way player in the league. And while he can be very inconsistent at times, he has something that most NBA players do not have that is the IT Factor. Having an unbelievable skill set to go with unbreakable confidence

At only 21 years of age, he’s already showing more take over and finish the game ability in crunch time the ninety-nine percent of the NBA. As good as Kemba Walker is even Kemba Walker must now defer to Jayson Tatum. Make no mistake, on a team full of stars oh, this is already Jayson Tatum’s team.
What’s even more amazing is, that is good as Jayson Tatum has been oh, he is probably nowhere near his ceiling. The sky is the limit. He will be the best two-way player in the league with the exception of Giannis over the next five years at minimum

Don’t know how anyone would be able to disagree with these statements, but who says no

On a side note, LA Lakers and the LA Clippers are considered two of the top teams in the league, im Tatum’s last two games against them scored 80 points including out plane some of the best players in the league such as LeBron and Kawhi. Anthony Davis could not stop him and either could Kawhi Leonard.

Tatum is as strong candidate for USA this summer. If players are anywhere close in talent, the players who actually played for USA last summer will get it over those who didn’t. You need to give a few spots to those who actually showed up.

Those who are so good, they are locks are:

    Curry, Lillard
    Harden, Klay
    Kawhi, George
    Lebron
    Davis

That means that there are basically 4 spots up for grabs, and they need a pf, c, and 2 other players
For the 4 spots I’d add:

C-Bam and Turner (both played, Bam was cut). Need 2 bigs for other countries like France and Serbia
Tatum and Harris (Kemba is not needed with curry and lillard)
I’d add booker over Klay if Klay doesn’t play.

I said this a while ago and its stayed true to this day. Siakam will always be better than Tatum.

The exclusion of Terence Davis from this conversation is an insult to Canada and half of Mississippi.

All hyperbole from the OP aside, where do you think Tatum ranks among NBA players right now and does he have this kind of a ceiling?

Tatum has the potential to be a top 10 NBA player but top 5 lists are very crowded. Boston clearly chose the correct player when they drafted him.

Let me also add that the BIGGEST attribute a player needs to be a “superstar” is TAKE OVER ABILITY and/or step up your game against the BEST teams in the biggest games. All signs so far show Tatum has or will have this VERY shortly.
You guys can accept this now or eat Crow later..

Tatum will be very good, but best 2 way player other than Giannis in the next 5 years? Big call.
Simmons, Embiid, Siakam, Zion, Bam, KAT..
Even Morant and Doncic aren’t duds on D, and Luka is so far ahead offensively it’s not funny.

Not only will Tatum be a top 5 player in a few years, he is the next Kobe. It is obvious that Tatum idolized Kobe, studied his game, and is working relentlessly to master all of his moves. Tatum is 2 inches taller, longer, and a better defender at than Kobe was a 21 year old. Both Tatum and Kobe averaged 23 ppg as 21 year olds and now that Tatum is starting to put it all together he is only going to continue to get better. He absolutely dominated Kawhi in the 4th quarter and overtime of that Clippers game and he will quickly learn how to handle the double teams the Lakers threw at him at the end of the Lakers game. Although the Celtics really missed Kemba that game (Wannamaker was terrible) one of the benefits of Kemba having knee troubles it allowed Tatum to become the number 1 option and now there is no going back. The Celtic’s are Tatum’s team and the NBA will soon be Tatum’s league.
