    Drazen Petrovic? Another thread about which players I feel bad for made me think of him…

    Both were stars in the Euroleague before heading to the US. Finally they end up coming to the NBA and both end up being backup shooting guards to superior players in Portland (Roy > Rudy, Drexler > Drazen). Both are unhappy about their limited playing time and both are forcing trades out of Portland.

    Now Drazen eventually got his wish and was traded to the New Jersey Nets. He becomes an all star in NJ averaging 20.6 and 22.3 ppg. Could Rudy become a star elsewhere as well?

    Petrovic is a legend but you are right about the similar situations. I don’t think he meant that he didn’t want to play in the NBA anymore. I think it was more of a thoughtless comment out of frustration. I can understand him, if you are in your prime and are confident in your abilities then the only thing you want to do is play.
