WälseParticipanti believe this may have been addressed in other forum topics by some of you, but i wanted to make a topic specifically geared towards this question. i’ve heard “The Round Mound of Rebound” say this as well as others. Your thoughts?

Charles BarkleyParticipantLBJ. the little SOB he is, is the best scorer. When he was giving me crap, I snapped him. Dang I hate him.

nthegoodlifeParticipantTough topic, cause its a team game, so we wouldn’t know unless all players were allowed to play like Iverson in his prime (you know unlimited fga)

Flash_Scout_5ParticipantNo Melo is the third best scorer ever since Lebron has improved his improved his jump shoot and his long range. Kobe Bryant is still the best pure score but Melo is third maybe a little ahead of Dwayne Wade. Still Lebron is the best player in the NBA overall.

bluedevils12ParticipantYes carmelo is the best pure scorer in the game hands down.now yes kobe has the jumper and bron has the drive game but carmelo has both and he so smooth when making it happen. to say lbj is the best pure scorer is just stupid because lebron has no kind of back to the basket game. and yes u could make a strong case for kobe bein the best scorer but i have 2 give it to melo because he has jus so many ways to score and also thats pretty much all that his game WAS. now melo is defending and rebounding and doin wat it takes become a superstar. i now think melo is the 3rd best player in the league

WälseParticipanti like Melo’s game but i think you’re going way too far in calling him the 3rd best player in the league. he’s very good, dont get me wrong, but he’s definitely not better than D. Wade. no way, no how. i dont think he’s as good as D. Howard or CP3 either, but thats just me.

ch15r36isParticipantI think he’s lucky if he’s top 10. All he can do is score, really…and some nights, he really doesn’t do it all that well. I don’t believe he’s ever scored 50 in a game…so I have a hard time even calling him the best pure scorer in the game.
Dirk, Kobe, Lebron, D-Wade, B-Roy, Dwight, Durant, Granger, Duncan…the list of players that had far better individual seasons than him this year. Carmelo is a fine scorer, but he’s living a lot off of college hype still. I’d say he’s the second best player on his own team right now.0 -

nthegoodlifeParticipantI couldn’t agree more chris. I think this has been his coming out party (playoffs), however I believe others are better at scoring the ball.

bluedevils12Participantu kno when i really sit down and try 2 think about it its so hard to compare these players becuz none of them play the same position, teams have different needs and they dont get 2 show all the same things. in melo’s case i said he was better than dwade. u can argue for or against it but in reality we cant make the comparison. wade gets so much more freedom than melo does becuz wade has no “team” and melo is playing on a title contender. jus like the lebron kobe comaprison ppl say bron stats are killing kobe’s. um yes they are better but lets look at the teams. kobe is in a triangle offense and lebron gets the ball more and is a facilitator. so of course bron will compile stats like assist becuz he controls the ball. stats are misleadng when it comes to comparing players.

birdman1113ParticipantHow can you say Carmelos the best scorer in the nba when Lebrons putting in 40 a night?

nthegoodlifeParticipantIt takes officials for LeBron to score 40. Have you not been watching the playoffs?

bluedevils12Participantbirdman i said melo is the best becuz of the different ways he scores. yea bron averages more or watever but the night barkley broke down the ways melo scores he said that melo can score from 3, low post, driving, mid range, close range and free throws. when they analyzed bron game they said he still needs 2 work on a midrange jumper and his back 2 the basket skills becuz he hardly ever posts up. he has the drive game and is developing the 3 but melo has been had all that becuz thats wat he started out doing. thats way barkley said he is the best and thats why im saying it.

STEVEDOT2Participantmello can score and tons of diferrnt ways and might be around longer then lebron when lebron begins to lose a step he wont be droppin wat hes droppin now but camello is know for hes size and speed a good he ahs 1 of teh best combonation of it and now hes known for his defense kobe couldnt score so easy when mello was on him
mello has a back to the basket game a fade away multi go to moves scores with contact gets to the line at will
mello is coming out………… but scorer i have durant being the best scorer soon………..hes to versitile he can play every postion except point gaurd at 6-11 or 6 10 sumthin lebron cant do when he puts on more muscle hes going to be a tough
plus he developing the killer instinct which players like lebron howard wade and kob have to dominate games0 -

alvinz95ParticipantMichael Beasley will eventually take this award. He has an amazing skill set and is still a rookie. Perfect jumper, can drive past, post moves, and finesse moves.

bluedevils12Participanti agree on the beasley comment that kid can score. ina few years i wonder jus how good he will be with dwade. i hope he has the kind of drive that willl make him one of the best. but as for b roy i see him as more of a playmaker than a pure scorer
