Memphis MadnessParticipantI just posted a mock draft with comments!
Mock away!
I went mostly BPA here with fit also taken into consideration.
I have a stunner at 2. Although, you guys know me!
Should be a fun draft with some unpredictable mocks headed our way.
Discuss!

Dr.RedParticipantI really hope this is a really poor attempt at a joke. In reality, it’s just sad.

Arc12345ParticipantYou have Jarrett Culver going 35th? He’s not my favorite prospect, but he’s definitely a lottery pick.
You have Tacko going 2nd? I’ll eat my shoe if this happens. He’s a good player and I think he has a place in the NBA, but he’s not going that high. MAYBE 1st round.
Tyler Herro is one of my favorite prospects, but you think he’ll potentially be a cornerstone piece of a team (as all lottery picks ideally should be)? I’m not so sure about that.
A lot of this was just silly.

MopgrassParticipantTacko Fall couldn’t possible go 2nd, but I do have interest in you eating this shoe that you spoke about.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Cavs are in a tough spot at 2. Not exactly sure who they should take. Sexton is their ball dominant guard, so maybe RJ, Ja, or Garland aren’t the pick.
"Fit wise" I think Herro actually makes as much sense in Cleveland as anywhere. Then they would have their back court of the future.
Ja/Garland just might be too big of a liability on defense. But I think for the Suns/Bulls at 3/4 you gotta tak ’em.
Yeah, I am not a huge Culver fan. Some of those late first round bigs might be replaced by Culver or Thybulle.
My RJ Barrett pick was based on "fit" as well as a few others. Second round is basically a toss-up so I had to either go with fit, BPA, or something like that.
For the Hawks, I went with fit: Hunter and Kab hit the spot for them although neither might be the actual PBA on the board. Although most of the first round is either Tier 1 guys or Tier 2 guys.
Yes, I am a big Tacko Fall fan. He gets the job done. Although maybe you don’t play him for more than 25 minutes a night. Although Zion is the only big man in the draft that I would want to play more than 30 minutes a night.
I think the Cavs might trade down if they end up at 2 or 3.
Hunter makes some sense for them too as a solid 2-way player.
Finally, I think Tacko Fall and Darius Bazley either go SUPER HIGH or SUPER LOW. Not a whole lot of middle ground for them.
I might have Luka Samanic too low. I have him higher in my internal top 15 big board.
For me, Sekou Doumbouya is pretty much in that 10-15 range (he’s been at 13 for my last 3 internal big boards) although he could go late first — although he could also sneak into the top 5.
I like Sekou more if he shows signs of being a point forward. Some of his highlights show nifty passing. He also looks comfortable with the ball in his hands, at least in the open court. If he can be a primary or secondary ball handler then that really raises his draft stock. Although I think Darius Bazley is closer to being the next Ben Simmons than Sekou is to the next Magic Johnson/Greek Freak hybrid.
Yep. Mamadi Diakite is one of my favorite guys in this thing. Just a classic, modern role player.
I think Kevin Porter, Jr. might be the biggest boom/bust guy in this draft. He has All Star potential but could also wash out.
My comments probably could have been better, more in-depth, and professional. I spent most of my time trying to sort everyone out (taking "team need" into account) while giving the entire draft a particular "flow". Some of the guys I am not too familiar with anyway.
Yeah, Tacko Fall is basically a river boat gamble. But, if he hits he is gonna be HUGE. If not, well, I assume a team can tank next season too. And, I agree that he is probably late second round on most boards (or undrafted). Although if he has enough foot speed and quickness then he is a rotation big man who can really effect the game. If he can go 30 plus minutes a night then he is an All Star and MULTI-DPOY winner.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI’m not loving the small forwards/combo forwards in this draft. Can anyone sell me on Louis King or KZ Okpala. Some people like those two. Many don’t.
Ironically, there is a lot of big man depth although. maybe Zion is the only Tier 1 big man –maybe even the only Tier 1 OR Tier 2 big man.
But if the league goes big again it wouldn’t hurt to start early. Or, hedge your bets.
Any team drafting 2 on down that already has a lead (ball dominant) guard should probably go BIG. This might end up looking like an NFL draft. You never know.

BallerScriptParticipantI’m interested to hear how you define the difference between your bigboard and your mock draft. In my eyes, a mock draft is a prediction of what the NBA front offices will do come draft night and a bigboard is instead a ranking based on personal preferance.
Your mock draft looks more like a bigboard to me. It’s clear that Tacko Fall won’t be chosen anywhere near the top of the first round despite your thoughts on him. NBA front offices won’t pull the trigger on that but that doesn’t mean you can’t claim that he’ll end up as one of the best players of the draft. For example, I was never a big fan of the Bag-Man Marvin Bagley. On my personal big board he was sitting around the 4-6 mark. Despite this, on my mock draft I had him at #2 because I knew Sacramento was eyeing in on Bagley and a mock draft is a prediction of how the big day will go down.
More people need to be supportive of bold claims such as your own because the top 10 guys drafted are never the best 10 players five years later. I think people just want a bit more evidence behind your thinking.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI took fit into account which was the "mock" part of it. RJ/Ja/Garland don’t make a ton of sense on a team that already has Sexton. Not sure those 3 are gonna be superstars either. Herro would be a "fit" guy. The great shooter that would complete their backcourt. Or, maybe they look at Bol Bol but he has some holes defensively and I don’t wanna have my 7 footer shooting 3’s. Plus he’s a twig. Could be injured a lot. He might just be an empty stats guy.
I can see Cleveland doing a multi-year rebuild thing. Maybe they shore up their interior defense/presence in this draft. And there is only one Tacko Fall. And he played great against Duke in the tourney (and in the first round too). Later on I have them taking Kenny Wooten which is a more bouncy big man who can block some shots. Tacko and Wooten would give them a bit of different looks inside. Then next year they can look at wing players.
In the right scheme and with "load management" I can see Tacko having ABSURD advanced stats. On the flip side he can get run off the court every now and then. He might be a boom/Bust player from game to game. Last year I had Bamba at one for months on end then moved Mitchell Robinson to 1 in my final mock draft/Big Board, so I am keeping that in mind. Advanced stats matter and I think defense matters more than offense for bigs.
Cavs probably wanna trade the pick if they are at 2. I would have commented that they should trade down with the Hawks but they don’t really need Ja or Darius Garland (or maybe RJ Barrett) either. Hawks might trade down if they love Bol. 2 looks like a tricky spot in this draft for teams like Cleveland and Atlanta. Cavs have made a lot of risky picks recently so maybe they go with Sekou Doumbouya at 2. Sekou is 12/13 in my internal big boards. Darius Bazley was actually at 2 in my internal Big Board when I made this mock.

HitsterParticipantTacko at Number 2 must be a spoof. I can accept that a team in the top 10 could well take a flyer on Bol Bol and the Wizards getting him would be a good story.
I hope that Tacko does get drafted nut he’d be a 2nd round guy at best to me unless he did a great workout and a team took a late first round flyer on him.

90sNYKParticipantIt looks like you just randomly clicked on players arrows up and down. You have lottery level talent going in the second round. Most notably Keldon Johnson, Rui Hachimura (consensus top 6 pick), Nassir Little, Jarrett Culver, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Daniel Gafford, Romeo Langford, KZ Okpala.
Lets not even talk about Fall at 2 and Barrett at 7 and Herro at 8.
These kind of posts are just taking up space on this forum.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe top of the board is gonna be fit dependent. Especially if an All Star caliber has any superstar/MVP potential. Ja and RJ fit the bill along with some other guys — even Zion. I think Zion goes for 22/11 as a rookie but will max out at around 25/13/4/2/2 so if that can get a team to a title, great. If not, he probably won’t be considered an all-timer.
Reddish/Hayes/Hunter and some others have All Star potential but might be considered relative busts in the wrong situation.
Overall, I think the bigs over perform, and the guards/wings under perform. With Bol Bol being one of the bigger boom/bust guys in recent years.
