Nickeil Alexander-Walker   this kid isn’t shy about shooting !!

As a rookie only shooting 25% from the field, he keeps firing.

Last season, the leaders were harden, irving and padbrook  with around 20 FGA per 36 mins.  Even the greatest ball hog of all time Kobe was around 20 FGA per 36 mins for most of his career

Nickeil Alexander-Walker is at 18.7 FGA per 36.

Coby White (must be the name) is another one at 19.1 FGA per 36

As a rookie, this is not the best way to win over new teammates…

Tough league for young gaurds to jump into. Darius Garland is struggling as well shooting 30% from the field and 30% from three.

People tend to say Center is the toughest role to develop and after that the ballhandling PG but I’ve always thought a "shooters" role is the most difficult to master. Those guys gotta constantly run through screens, be moving, reading the defence, taking bumps from guys that are usually much more built for the bumps and when they finally get a bit of space to get a shot off they gotta knock it down or they get benched immediately. Tough gig.

They are missing Zion.  Favors is not a fit on this team. JJ is better as a starter.

Holiday is looking overrated now that this team has high expectations. With the development of Ball, Hart, and Frank Jackson, I think Holiday should be traded.

    Rookies will stuggle this season..

Stats have been hyperinflated the last few years and as a result teams have been paying guys more than their worth..

You’ll start to see teams with defensive minded units back to leading the standings..

    Moreyball is getting phased out.

Some guys are shooters. Some guys are makers. Alexander-Walker isn’t a maker. At least not yet. There in lies the problem. Part of the problem with a lot of chuckers is that’s all they do well. Give me a guy who can do other aspects of the game well, and maybe I can live with the off nights and poor shot selection a little better.

Give me a guy who chucks and plays no D, doesn’t rebound and doesn’t dive on the floor for loose balls or play hard — and doesn’t make many of his shots — and you’ll soon see a team grow resentful and start to break down.

The Pelicans are in a weird spot. They brought in vets and told them they would get minutes and intended on winning. They have been going through a ton of injuries and arent winning but if they dont give those vets their minutes it will look reaally bad the next time they negotiate with agents in free agency which will drive up the next wave of vets market value. Look at what Sacramento had to pay for Dedmon and Barnes or what New York had to pay for their crop of vets. Thats the road they are going down if they dont honour their commitment to Favors and Redick.

Meanwhile Okafor and Hayes clearly are outplaying Favors and Ball and Holiday are not a good fit. So Gentry is put in a very akward position. Holiday has been trying to play passive and get everyone else involved but he needs to go out there and set the tone just get his.

Gentry has to decide if he is going to try to win or if he is going to try to develop because every night they look like its a preseason game. Ball should be backing up Holiday and Hart should be backing up Redick and Ingram. Favors should stay on the bench, Hayes should probably be in the G league and Melli should be backing up Okafor.
