Yea, y’all have players going out of high school..BUT you still will have players going to college for one year to be lottery picks because they weren’t out of HS. Trae Young couldn’t of went pro. Heck Zion wouldn’t of been the top pick out of HS. 95% of the one and dimes this year wouldn’t of been lottery picks last year. How does this benefit college basketball???

 I think the true benefit is to keep the players who have no interest in college whatsoever from solely going to college to fulfill the NBAs one year requirement. I don’t believe that has all that much benefit to colleges outside of keeping people from trying to buy these outstanding players to join a certain school.

The hardest part with Men’s College Basketball is how much money they generate. Other than College Football no other programs make enough money that would facilitate trying to pay a prospect. I don’t know if there ever will be a way to remove corruption from these highly profitable collegiate sports.

Back in 2005, there were not a lot of options to college basketball if you were a prospect with no interest in playing NCAA basketball other than delcaring for draft. Remember that back then not all teams had a D-league team and no big name prospects were really playing overseas. Given the global popularity of basketball these days and the quality of foreign leagues, I don’t think the NBA really needs to be concerned with the less herald-ed prospects of a given class not reaching their potential. Its always been clear that the top level prospects can play at 18 in the NBA so the issue was always about the next group of kids who were 2nd rounders or undrafted. Now I just think there are far more options for development so the 1 and done rule can be ended.

I’d like to see the nba take an approach to the draft more like the MLB. Which gives teams and players a lot more freedom. There’s no way to abolish this corruption without putting money in the hands of the teams and players. I’m willing to bet corruption on the NCAA is about like regular crime, usually 1/10 gets caught. Disgusting to think my favorite coach, Dana Altman, is probably a Cheater. I’d like to see the salary cap abolished.

 the system that was in place before 2006 (players could go the prep-to-pro route or leave college whenever) was great. The last thing that the NBA should do is force players to stay in college for multiple years like football and baseball.
